I see. It is possible that the smell of brandy in Red Line Oil is due to the reaction that is used to make the esters in the oil. Esterification is a chemical reaction in which an ester is formed by the condensation of an alcohol with a carboxylic acid. The resulting product, an ester, typically...

It sounds like you have a good understanding of the differences between different types of motor oils and their suitability for different applications. It is important to choose the right motor oil for your vehicle to ensure that it is well-lubricated and protected against wear and tear.

How can you tell if there is a difference between these motor oils? The engineers care about keeping their job if it's a well paying one. If it's not, they stick around long enough until they can move on to something better. The accounting department is kept on a short leash by upper...

AMSOIL is good oil. If you're already using it, stick to it. To me that looks like a plugged EGR cooler that no longer did its job. Are Diesel emission systems stupid? Of course they are. Do you like to breathe (kinda) clean air? Yeah, they're a compromise at the owner's expense.

They didn't actually replicate it. It's more than that. Red Line 0W-30 (the old formulation) had an API SL - era additive package that was top-treated with Molybdenum MoDTC and ZDDP (more of each). Red Line uses a majority PAO base stock and a large amount of POE co-base. The new formulation of...

Hey @Burla, @Kap1 volunteered that information before you even asked the question. I bet you can't wrap your head around the fact that no oil on the face of the earth will cure bad/improperly hardened lifters, especially where the pin in one or more lifters fails and causes those lifters to...

I got the thermostat idea from you and @Hemi395, and the grille shutter delete from a specific YouTube video that I posted before in this thread. I never claimed that these were my ideas. I did, however, talk at length about the oil-temperature relationship in the HEMI at various temperatures...

I agree with you. Dave @ Red Line can sometimes mix things up a little bit as he deals with tons of emails daily. Their 5W-20 can't be VII-free either. Look at the 40C, 100C viscosities, and 8% NOACK.

Wow, so repeating what I've been saying for years and presenting it as your own idea. Very original of you, or is it amnesia? Or maybe Deja Vu? For anyone interested, just scroll through my earlier posts, especially the ones where I talk about going to a Mishimoto 180F thermostat and deleting...

About 200F oil temp in the summer, like right now, and 185F~190F coolant temp. In winter, they both get to 185F and stay there.

I covered the 180F thermostat and the grille shutter delete over a year ago. We're still running the 180F thermostat successfully in the RAM 1500 DS. On long trips, while pulling a 3000lbs trailer, the oil and coolant don't break 210F. Also, this is a real thing that can make some men...

@Burla, one thing is for sure: you weren't banned forever from BITOG due to your superior intellect. You were banned because you like to trash-talk, bully people into submission, and spread misinformation. Rest assured, BITOG hasn't forgotten about you. And you're doing the same here. Why...
