What bolts should I check if I'm trying to correct an exhaust leak also known as the Hemi tick? I have a loud ticking on passenger side when engine is cold, stealership wants to charge over $100, just for diagnostic, and I'm out that if it's not considered to be covered under powertrain warranty...thanks!

"Hemi tick" is NOT an exhaust leak..

Unless you said " I think I have an exhaust leak, you guys wana check my exsaust??" Then any sound that sounds like its coming from the engine would be covered under warranty as far as diagnostics.. cause then it turns into "Oh yeah its just an exhaust leak, its going to cost 1.75 million to fix it" instead of them charging you to tell you that

I didn't tell them what I thought it was, but I did see where some people said the ticking that I'm calling the "Hemi tick" could be a lifter issue or an exhaust leak...if it's a lifter it should be covered, if it's not I'm trying to avoid the cost if it's as simple as tightening a few bolts

Just got mine back from having issues and a tick/exhaust leak... (still broke)

But they did find that the manifold was cracked on the drivers side... that was replaced under warranty. so might take a peak for that to if its not just a manifold flange bold being loose.

Check the back exhaust manifold bolts. They break off

I just went thru this exact issue 2 weeks ago.

It's NOT the Hemi tick. The exhaust leak is a whole nother thing.

My bolt on cylinder 8 broke off and it was replaced no questions asked under power train warranty. Solved the problem completely.

lol sorry I wasn't trying to accuse you of it. It was more of a reference that they take your word for the wrong things some times.. Anyways.. How many miles are on your truck?

My passenger side rear 2 are completely sheared off in the head, dealer tried removing but broke his extractor in the head. So they are ordering a new head for my passenger side.

I think I might have this issue as well? Mine seems to be coming from the driver side and its almost like a knocking sound when its idling. Its not very loud but definitely noticeable.

Mines a 2013 with 20k miles.

Nice. Ya I went in hoping there wasn't any damage to my heads and they told me the broken bolt came out fairly easy. Guess I got lucky.

It's crazy how common this problem is.

It's easy to check. Get under and see if the heat shield is loose. I yanked on the rear of mine and out popped the studs with it

Mine had the exhaust leak at the manifold and there was a tsb for it so it was fixed free of charge. Might wanna check to see if the tsb covers your truck too
