If you want back up lights, you will be much better off installing some LED lights out back. It's the best inexpensive mod I've ever done. I just used some cheap LED cubes from Ebay. Now it's almost like having a set of headlights out back!
I have a light bar with reverse lights. To me. It sits under the tailgate and you lose any light there is anyway. I added led pods. They were like 25 bucks off eBay. Couple of hangers from Home Depot and some stainless hardware. Painted the brackets and it lights up the night. Way better, but I like the light bar too, so.......
I’ve had both, a redline triple tailgate bar with a bright reverse light and I’ve done dual morimoto mod pod reverse lights on the trailer hitch.
The tailgate bar is useless since the light is funneled out between the tailgate and the top of the bumper. It puts a brighter beam of light like a line but it’s too high and never reaches the ground.
The reverse lights does a better job but I’ve found it also gets too bright and it washes out the backup camera. Since I rely heavily on the backup camera there is a limit to how much you really need to see. Plus these trucks got phat @sses and it’s hard to see anything with the mirrors.
for under the tailgate we offer the Putco blade which has a very bright reverse light. now if you want some serious revers lighting we offer many brands of lights and we can figure out a rear aux light setup for you.
