The part 53032455AD is obsolete. After searching through my local u-pull it but having no luck.
Is is possible to adapt another pedal to to the PCM sensor input? What is/are the resistive range(s) of the original sensor (mine is already failed) and surely someone else has overcome this APPS problem. It is possible the Ram diesel or the 05-08 pedals are compatible or convertible? Since the part is discontinued and I can’t locate one, this rules out a normal service from a shop or dealership. you guys are smarter than to give up on Mopar products, so give me a hint as to what solution you used.
The malfunctioning Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) also seems to interfere with the shift ranges and gears selected by the PCM handed off to the transmission.
Suppose it is possible I have a bad PCM and not a bad APPS? your thoughts?
Someone has fixed a 2003-2004 5.7L gas pedal and will have suggestion. Love to hear how you did it.

So, I took the APPS out and guess what? Mercedes makes it, Part # 6477-01172926. Took me a bit to research and compare the marking on the part. This part from Mercedes will not be a perfect fit, the high limit stop is present, but not on the original and the connector is a slightly different shell, will need a bit of persuasion there.

I have been doing some digging on this as well - I found a post where someone said that Bosch A0125423317 is a direct replacement.

Thanks Recoil! That update on the direct fit part (Bosch A0125423317) for the 2003-2004 5.7L Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) might really help folks keep their rigs running well and on the road.

No problem! I wish I could verify that the part number is correct. If you end up getting one, let us know if it works! :)

I’m attempting to order it through NAPA. They need to confirm it can be acquired at some additional cost. So far it is $185 plus out of state shipping and could be customs for out of country shipping. Waiting for their reply. PartsGeek returned a reply that they could no longer support that part and it seems to have been removed from their site.

Never had much good come from eBay. Bought it anyway and will try it. Thanks so much for the link to the part.

Well eBay held true to my expectations. Got the part to find it has two rows of three pins inside the connector. The original part is one row of 6 pins. So, will convert it. Initial measurements with a multimeter indicate the pins are similar resistance to each other; should just need to adapt to them. Another friend was able to find one in a junk yard, it gave worse responsiveness than the original, even after a short drive. The truck still has the P0032 (passenger upstream O2) error. Will need to track down a solution there as well since the new sensor and wiring repair didn't quite get that cleared. I so love these old rigs... cause they can still be worked on. Kinda makes me miss my '48 CJ. Still have the 01 Expedition to get to this winter, rod went through the block. Love to tinker with 'em.

Sorry about that part not being the correct pin layout... I should have found one with more pictures.

Not a problem. I can adapt it, just needs a bit of TLC. Hope it works better than what I have now. Otherwise, I’ll try to adapt an 05 system to the pedal, TB and wiring. That could be more interesting, ya think?

Yeah, more interesting is an understatement. :)
The original connection on the left with the red insert is smaller and tighter pin grouping, 2003-2004. The next connection on the right with the yellow insert has larger pins and wider spacing, 2006. Naturally, wit colors differ as well. Oh, did I mention the unique bracket to adapt the pedal? I may need to buy a service manual like I had for my ‘89 Ram to get an improved schematic. I’m sure this can be done, Dodge must have a fix or adapter kit. But I’ll work with what I have for now.

Got me paranoid. I was at the junkyard today and found a 2004 5.7. I yanked the APPS. $16

Sounds like a good plan to keep it on the road. I may have just got an odd unit that failed at 180K. But since the parts aren't available and we like our ride, plan ahead where you can.

So, I found a couple of wiring diagrams shown below, for my attempt to use a 2006 gas pedal in place of the 2003. I'll need to look at extending the wires from the battery area to inside the firewall. When I pulled the 2006 gas pedal, I cut the wires from the 06 wiring harness. Glad I did as the connectors are not the same. Now I'll use the attached wiring diagrams to splice into the original wiring. The plan is to leave the original and splice in for the extension to the 2006 gas pedal. The pedal is really easy to swap over; since two 13mm bolts hold the pedal in place. The electrical might be a a bit tricky. I'll keep posting updates as I work through this. it it works or not... I'll be straight-forward with what I end up with.

Okay, so... This took a while to get back to. The '05 pedal and upgrade to the existing unit functioned well. I had to learn more about the Ram though. Apparently, after you 'calibrate' the gas pedal, the vehicle needs to be driven for 50 miles or something. I have heard that from Cadillac owners after resetting their systems as well. So it ran very poorly right after the swap and I thought it was broke. Broke meant no idle, unless you power brake and it will die in corners or at intersection turns, unless you power brake. BUT! But, I needed to give a friend a hand moving furniture about 200miles away. I think for a bit, it runs on the highway, so, sure.. I'll help. Got it back home after the 400 mile trip (at 9miles per gallon???) and it kind of idles. If i release the brakes every 4 seconds as I stop, the truck will gear down and settle into an idle, unless I turn the wheel, then it might die. So, now I can drive it a bit. The economy probably needs a new downstream CO2 sensor. The brake light is on all the time, the right front sensor has an issue. The delay getting back to this was another project truck. but now winter is upon us, I'll wait since I don't have a garage that fits these rigs.
Thank, Brian G.
