03 5.9 Engine swap from 97 5.9

Dad just bought a 03 5.9 with a blown engine. I have a 97 5.9 with a built motor that's been sitting since I bought my 6.4 2500. Wanted to donate the engine, but he is saying the 03 5.9 has a 4 bolt motor mount vs a 3bolt motor mount. I know the front accessory brackets will need to stay with the 03, but I don't understand why there would be a change in the 5.9 for just the one year, doesn't make sense. Any thoughts? Can a 2nd gen longblock work on the 3rd gen 5.9?

Just went through the same problem. The mounts off of the 02-03 conveniently have a rusted mark on the back of the mount where the hole needs to be for the top hole in the 97. Drill it out and bolt it up. The driver side required drilling and modification of the mount and bracing.
