04 1500,8'bed fuel tank

Truck has been at dealer since August . Thought it was just a fuel line fitting leak at fuel pump. They found a crack at the top of tank. Only problem is that fuel tank was discontinued and no one has one. The dealer states that the tanks are in production and will be available in December. Well it's December so I called and they don't have a definite date. So I say do you have one coming for me. Their response is won't know till it comes to us for stock. So I'm not even on some list to get one. I'm a retired disabled veteran and bought the truck new. It only has 34,000 miles on it. No one will ship a use tank so I'm out of luck till it ever gets here. I don't even think their parts dept is even looking for one. They say it's because of the 8' bed and 26 gal?

I have 07 with 26 gallon tank. You would think they are the same.

That's what I think also. The years before and after. The dealer still can't find one!

According to this all long beds have 35 gallon tank.

is this the part number? If not. Would get the dealership to give you the part number and google search it. The tanks say discontinued on some sites but you can still find them on others. Good luck

That's what I thought when I bought the truck. If I remember I know I've put more than 30 gallons in it before but the dealer insisted it is a 26 gallon and my window sticker is in the glove box.

i would run the VIN and see what it has.
