Today my wife was out grocery shopping when she accidentally shifted into 2nd instead of drive, normally not a problem. However, she couldn't get it to shift back into drive. The shifter lever would go just fine, but the display would still read "2". So she put it into 1st, same thing... Shifter lever moves fine but display reads "1". So she decided to turn the truck off while it was still in first. Now it won't start.
What the hell happened? I'm really frustrated right now because she is over 600 miles away from me and I can't look at it myself since I'm in the military and I can't just leave. Any suggestions?

Was the transmission actually in first or was it just saying first? And its gotta be in park to start so move the shifter until its in park and try and start it. Doesnt sound like the tranny is messed up, either something with the shift cable messed up or its just the indicator

Sorry for not checking back on this post, it turned out that the shifter cable had snapped. It's fixed now :)

Glad you got it fixed. Maybe remind her to step on the brake pedal when changing gears.
