This is a good thread.

I noticed this too with my truck. The downshifting is what ****** me off. But I think it's part of the cylinder shut off so I understand...

Sluggish throttle from stop was fixed a little by the Intune. What's really weird is at 40mph the RPMs will jump up and down sometimes. Almost like the MDS is confused and doesn't know weather to kick in or not.

I increased the part throttle shift points with the DS Intune to solve the early shifts. Shifts great now. Turning off MDS doesnt solve the early shifts.

How much and all the shift points?

I keep the MDS off, I turn tow haul on below 50, increased my shift points 200.

All the shift points?

I have this problem with my 2010 even. I just put it in tow/haul mode when in town. I will be adding a tuner later this spring though.

With shift points, I have an issue with it not downshifting on rolling turns, like turning onto a street. It's like it gets hung up in 2nd and I have to goose it a little to get her down to 1st. Irritating it is, fixed it will be.

Exactly my issues too!!! I hate this!!!! Will a tuner help resolve the issue??

I owned all Fords prior to this Ram and NEVER had an issue with anything:(((

The right tuner should help. The can shut off MDS and change shift points. That's why I'm getting the Diablo Trinity.

This is exactly what mine does, I go into a turn with little to no throttle and the truck says "hey, lets drop to 4th gear" and then it holds it. UUUGH!

yup, this is what im talking about.
it will just hold that gear even as you keep giving it more throttle , then when you already gave it too much throttle, the result will be a violent downshift.

Its like a fat kid peddling uphill on a single speed bike , if only he could downshift :)

All the shift points?

Ths DS Trinity or Intune will allow you to disable MDS and change shift points from first to second and second to third across the throttle curve. I cant recall right now but its something like 10%(throttle), 15%, 25%, 40%, 60% and WOT. So I moved up the shift points by about 300 rpms at all points.

Also, a Hemifever tune really helps with shifting and tire smoking.
