Sounds too good to be true to me. gear kit alone (with bearings etc.) are probably ~$1200 give or take

.
I didn't pay anywhere near that for parts!! Guess prices vary depending on which gears you go with but for anyone considering do a change I would suggest here https://cmgearworks.com/

Price seems right for older axles including parts. For the newer axles the cheapest I found the parts for was $1300 front & back.

I’d verify the price to make sure they know how much parts for these newer axles cost.

Also on used gears, unless a pattern was taken and backlash measure BEFORE disassembly, its a crapshoot that they will “go back” together correctly.
I know of gear guys that won’t even touch a used set of gears because it is hard to get that old pattern.

Gosh that would REALLY suck to just send the gears to the scrap yard. I figured add a new kit & all would be good. I wasn't expecting to get very much money for them. Thought I could help someone out & get rid of them out of my garage. Maybe not. :(

Purchased Fr & RR AAM 4.10 gear set along with rebuild kits for 842.00 from C&M Gear. 1350.00 Installed. Was able to return front rebuild because 0 miles on front Diff and just needed Axle seal and Pinion Bearing.

on a new truck with low miles the carriers bearing are often reused which saves around $150. they probly reused the driver side front tube seal also. everything else needs replaced

Wow! They must get really good deals on the parts. From everywhere I have researched the gears, install kit, & oil alone costs that much.
My shop we get things cheaper I just quoted a gear change. Parts and oil for each axle was $450

That seems reasonable. What about labor? Is this for a 2500/3500 series truck?
What gear brand does your shop use?
Is that going from 3.73 to 4.56s?
Does that include correcting the speedometer?
You have my attention. Lol!

Labor is max $250 no matter what series axle. That is for 4.56s. We use Yukon but there are only 2 manufactures of gears and they are rebranded for that company (even Yukon). Yes it includes everything even the speedo correction :D I just got done installing 6.13s in my truck for my 44s having a shop makes it easy everyone should have one ;)

It's amazing some of the low price quotes I'm seeing on here. Literally half the price of what anyone I know that has actually had them done for? Maybe most shops over charge but still, these low estimates are way low. Even the labor seems low. $250 labor to install new gears front and rear in a 2500? Most shops charge between $80-$100 an hour for labor. No way this is a 2 1/2 hour job? (to do it correctly that is)

I was $2500 out the door using NITOR gears and that is a very reasonable price. Im in Michigan with a much lower cost of living than LA.

$1500 is almost the price of parts. To me it sounds like they are probably charging $1500 per axle as well.

When you know what you are doing you can do gears really quick. I fully swapped gears 3.55 to 6.13s in under 1hour, not including putting everything back. That's outrageous labor prices.
