16 Ram 1500 build

Purchased new back in 16 and here’s what I’ve done to it so far. Feel free to question or comment.

Renogy 100w solar panel with two dedicated 12v marine batteries

Tankless water heater, flow jet pump and 7 gallon water tank (driver rear quarter panel)

Locking storage box (under rear seat) and center console lock box

Rock sliders, frame mounted

Insulated and carpeted camper shell and installed a fantastic fan and led strip lights, also has an Air conditioner mount (giant hole in side bin) that I use during summer camping

Roof rack equipped with perimeter lights, wind fairing, Hi-lift mount, Shovel mount

Center console for auxiliary switches

Front receivers (hi-lift jack point) and a 42” curved light bar mounted between them

Back up camera

Bilstiens all around (icon 2.0 w/ res to be mounted)

305/70/17 Continental TerrainContact tires on American Eagle wheels

May have forgotten a few things

Usually only a few days at a time. By far the best thing I’ve done so far has to be the tankless, ability to take a hot shower in the middle of absolute nowhere is priceless

Removed the color matched bumper and built my own high clearance one

Rebuilt the icons and slapped them on along with some straps

Started on some undercarriage protection. Wasn’t impressed with the availabile options regarding skid plates for the rams so this is what I came up with. Fabricated a new control arm crossmember and power steering skid plate.
Crossmember is composed of 3/16 and 10gauge sheet as well as .120 tube for bushings.
Power steering skid plate is 10gauge sheet.
Transmission skid plate will be next.

temporary transmission skid plate out of 11ga sheet and 1.5x1/8 flat for gussets.
Will ultimately build one out of 3/16 alum and have the sides wrap up and around a few inches similar to the power steering skid plate

The outer tube is 1.75 x .120 dom the rest is 2” x .120 square

Honestly it would cost you less to go with the ADD bumper than what i would charge.

Everything I’ve come across is barely protective OEM and aftermarket, or non-available aftermarket in the manner your skid plates offer in protection.

I’ll get you some prices next time I go to the metal shop so I know how much it costs me. I’m assuming you would be wanting a new crossmember as well, sinice it is required in order to mount the skid plate
