I got a 89 dodge w350 with a 5.9 gasser, I'm wanting to put a 2wd tranny with a divorced np205 in it, now what transmission will hold up the best for that setup, I will be rebuilding the tranny to hold up to the built motor. Thanks

that thing looks pretty mean. the 727 that is likely already in that thing would be the best option if it is going to be a strictly mud truck. definitely make sure to beef up 2nd gear since that is where you will likely be most of the time in the mud. i know my 89 has no second gear because a previous owner beat on it pretty good. if this is going to be street legal toy that may see some highway driving may be worth going with a 46RH. pretty much same transmission as 727 except it has overdrive which makes a huge difference to fuel economy on the highway.

that will be pretty cool to see once it is done. i know there is a member on another forum who only lives about 30 minutes from me and his truck is sitting on 44's and it is just massive. hood is as tall as i am lol.

hard to say. at least 4.56 gears are closer to where you want to be than 3.55 or 3.23 gears which were more common in these trucks before they started using overdrive. my buddy just went from 3.55 to 4.10 gears on his diesel truck but he is only turning 37" tires.
