You'd probably get more attention if you put your post in the correct section with a title that hinted at what the issue is.

Do you turn the steering wheel for awhile before any steering input is achieved? Have you checked the steering shaft's rag joint? They wear out over time and there's several decent aftermarket replacements for the whole shaft like: https://www.borgeson.com/79-93-Full...pXEmvKNyd4oa-dRLLFiCX0U3AXrjT-B69oHQ59_0VTnev

I have steering as soon as I turn on the vehicle the problem is it's so sloppy it's got about almost three four inches of play like. This truck sat for almost 20 years the steering was fine up until probably the last 10 years but it's just it's really scary to drive

You need someone with a video camera to lay under the front end and record while the steering wheel is turned side to side.
Then upload the video so we all can have a look at the linkages as things move.
Have them also record the steering box while moving the wheel.

Right. Not the time the vehicle is running... the time you turn the wheel until it "catches" and starts steering the vehicle. Check your rag joint. Easy as grabbing it and pulling it up and down. If it moves, it's bad.
