1990 D250 318 Upper Control Arms

Good day. My son is in need of both upper control arms for his '90 D250 5.2 2wd, but I'm having an extraordinary amount of difficulty sourcing them on top of a lot of conflicting information. I found a seller on ebay for $500 and jimsautoparts.com has them for $400. I was hoping to find something a bit cheaper.

How do I know what axle rating he has? Is this something I can glean from the VIN? I've read elsewhere on the interwebs that the 4,000# axle is for the diesel only? Anyone know of any documentation available about this?

I've also read that all the uppers are the same for all the 1st gen B/D/W codes, but from what I can tell the OEM for my truck is part 52059039 for the left, and 52059038 for the right, but different numbers are listed for either W's or B's.

I did try placing an order through hollanderparts.com, but the salvage yard said the ones they had were not in good shape. My local yards have nothing.

We're running out of ideas and would appreciate any comments or thoughts. Thanks.

W series is 4x4 so won't have upper arms.

I have seen the arms listed on rockauto, and eBay.

I'M Going to say you've got a lot of mixed up info listed .
I'm not totally sure what a B IS But I'll say it a van.
the W Series is the 4x4 pick-ups.
SO The D is a pick-up & the 250 makes it a 3/4 ton. .
You should be able to find plenty of D250 IS WRECKING YARDS . Now maybe New York their all rusted up but then look in ARIZONA .
I'D THINK 50 TO MAYBE 75.00 EACH IN MY PART OF THE WORKS.

Did you get the information you were looking for? I just replaced both my upper control arms - a fairly easy job. The axle weight is on the spec sticker under the hood. Mine says 'DJB 3300¦ FRONT AXLE' From my original parts catalog the 150 and 250 series used the 3300lb axle; the 3600lb and 4000lb were used on the 350 series. Rockauto has a good choice of control arms under $100 each. I ended up getting Moog arms from Amazon (free delivery) for about $80 each
