Upon first look there was no fuel in the filter can. The gauge works, but I put three gallons of fuel in the tank, just to make sure. Still no fuel flow. So I put a new mechanical fuel pump on it. In doing so, I found odd debris in the bottom of the fuel heater. Appeared to be fibrous with fine shinny wires in it. I'd say it restricted a quarter of the fuel flow. Finished installing the pump, after cleaning the heater bowl and she still gets no fuel up to the filter. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Did the truck originally have an electric pump? I'm not sure about the specs on the 12v but I would imagine the fuel pressure would be hard to maintain on a turbocharged diesel with a mechanical pump. Also have you tried changing the filter? The filters can get clogged up pretty easily and as cold as it is it may have effected it to some degree. You would probably get more help in the cummins section but I know how slow it is over there so hopefully someone else here can help.

I would put howes or power service fuel condition+anti gel. If that doesnt work over night try Diesel 911 also made by power service but requires fuel filter change. We either put howes or power service fuel condition in our trucks and we've never had a gel condition yet, we use this in all our Cummins and Cats (not the little guy in your truck the big 8.3 liter ones hehe) How colds it getting where you live? We only worry about gelling once it starts hitting around the 0f mark but we leave the trucks idling even when theres no driver so its a little different. Also +1 on the filter change. The stuff you found sounds like some sort of filter mesh to me. Is the pump primed? Theres often a hand prime pump on our cats with mechanical fuel pumps. and a button/valve on the cummins electric fuel pump. If none of those fill your new filter with diesel screw it on and I- ME would use ether just a couple shots on the air filter but im not going to reccomend that either semi trucks are a bit different. I know i wouldnt use it on a personal vehicle . Oh if you have a priming valve still fill your filter to the brim with diesel. Thats would i would do on a semi dont know much about the little guys but i know A LOT of it carries over.

We have three other diesels and all start and run fine. The temps here have averaged in the teens for a week or more. Guess I need to look at that filter, thanks.
