Hey guys, I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4wd. Started driving it yesterday after it sitting for a couple months and when I would step on the gas at any point the trans would kick down and send the rpms to like 5k. I have been looking around and I think it may be the governer pressure solenoid but Im not 100% sure. Kinda tight on money so Im not able to just toss a transmission in it right now. I pulled the dipstick and the trans fluid is still red and doesnt really smell funky. Im thinking about replacing the shift solenoid the governor pressure solenoid and the output shaft speed sensor. Anyone have any similar issues? If so what route do you take to fix it?

Have you checked the fluid level? Even a minor leak can cause a significant loss over a couple of months of sitting.

To check the level in our trucks, you have to drive around a bit first until the transmission fluid is warm. Then, you shift into "neutral," making sure you're on flat ground first, of course, then check the dipstick. If the hatch-marks are dry, add fluid, wait a few moments, then check again. Rinse, repeat until you're in the "OK" range.

Any particular reason the truck was sitting for such time to begin with?
