1st Gen for life, Gas vs Diesel

I want to own a 1st gen dodge ram with 4wd for life. I understand that this will take alot of upkeep, but which model of dodge ram will give me the least issues?

Gas Vs Diesel?
318 vs 360?
Manual tranny vs automatic?
W150 vs W250 vs W350?

Get the 1989 - 1993 Cummins equipped W250.

The choice of transmissions is up to you. You can be shifty or shiftless as you please. My preference would be a manual.

Slant 6. Or a Cummins. But realistically, any engine they used can outlast the body, in most cases.

I would love to have an 89-93 W250 with the 12 valve Cummins and manual trans, but I will probably never have it since I have my 2011 CTD. These first gen Cummins are drawing more money than they are worth, in my opinion, no matter what their coolness factor is.
