I'm just wanting to know what size tires will fit with 2.5 inch level kit or if anyone has put 33 or 35s without rubbing after level, I'm also putting different wheels with better backspace and offset thanks

do a search! Just made a thread to address this. Stock wheels 295/65/20 fits, doubt anything bigger would.

With a level kit I would stop at 33's, rubbing will depend on the wheel offset.

^^^ As I have ran many rims, tires and lift kits on my truck I know what will fit and won't. Post a link to said thread why make us search for it?

You do realize the op's truck is a 99 not a 13? Upper and lower control arms are a major rubbing spot for larger tires and the wrong offset/backspace. Lifting the truck will not solve this problem only offset/backspace. The other area is the inner fender.

Look street doctor. you have a 4th gen Ram that runs a coil over wishbone independent style suspension...IFS for short.

It is nothing like a coil sprung 4 link suspension solid front axle on a 2nd gen 4x4 Ram. And what works on your truck will not always work on ours. Your wheel and tire combo would likely hit the 4 link arms. You don't have those on your truck. Thats why lift/suspension triangulation/motion and wheel offset are important on our trucks. Your comments suggest you have't a clue that our front axles travel in an arc, while your system moves up and down...EDIT, I apologise your axles move in an arc but it is vertical to the frame.

Even if the OP has a 2wd 2nd gen, the types of lifts for a double wishbone coil suspension would not allow larger than 33 inch tires without changing the control arms and/or spindles which means 17 inch wheel/tires. I urge you to google Fabtechs' site and read up on 2nd gen 2wd lifts.

In fact, based on your age alone...how do I say this nicely....when you were 16 I had purchsed my Ram and started lifting it...along with several of my buds. Actually this is my 2nd 2nd gen... I had a '97 ext cab.

Please retain your current wisdom to the 4th gen forums.

EDIT 2: After looking up streetdoctors tire specs I now realize he is telling us we can stuff what amounts to a 35x12.5 tire under a 2nd gen with a 2.5 level. Oh if it were only true! I would have had 35s back in 2002...Couldn't have driven the truck anywhere off road except a well maintained gravel road. Turning a full arc....(snicker)
And now I understand why kids who just bought a used 2nd gen want to put 35s on with virtually no lift, probably because the guys with newer trucks are doing so. Sorry young'ns...

Don't forget you'll need to change gearing to keep your current level of performance when you go to 35's

Sorry to but in but I just put a 2" leveling kit in my truck and I was going to buy 35" tires. I understand that my truck will bog a little and throw off my speedo but do I have to swap my gearing?

Bog a little is probably an understatement, and I think you'll find that 35's won't work under a 2 inch level on a 1500...although if you have a 2500 they might.

I am currently running 35/12.5/17s on an 01 ram 1500 sport. No lift.... Does scrub on the front bumper a tad but I have a rc 2.5 level coming in the mail. The main reason I scrub at full lock is bc I'm running TSL thornbirds.

I've attached a photo of my truck. I know for a fact with the level kit, I will not rub.

If this were true I could've run them back in 2002, but I couldn't. Not the kind of off roading I did. Maybe for dirt roads and light mud...

Don't forget when you run your 2.5 leveling spacer you will more your axle over and back about 1 inch. Your contact points will likely change.

When I read a post where the tires scrub a little, that's still failure. Proper suspensions are designed and installed so that the tires don't rub or touch anything under any circumstance. That way the vehicle can be used just like as it was from the factory but with enhanced capabilities.

I have a 2 1/2 inch leveling kit in the front and even before I had that on 33's fit fine. I recently purchased offset rims and now it doesn't even touch the inner fender. It's only -10mm offset too. In my opinion if you are going to throw 35's on a truck use a LIFT kit because the quality is so much better then just some spacers that only lift the front of the truck. I only bought them because I'm getting a new truck eventually this year and didn't want to spend tons on a lift.

If you start running 35's and go off road on stock 1500 axles and gears, you will start breaking hubs and will smoke your transmission.

The only place it rubbed was on the corner of the front bumper. And that was bc if the thornbirds side lug. When I had 315/70/17 dynopro's, it didn't rub at all on stock suspension. Then again, I'm running aftermarket rims with 4 inch backspacing. But mpg is TERRIBLE. I dropped to around 10 which is fine in the Mudd. I've since went back to my 33s and use the 35s solely for offroading.

The average backspace for these trucks is from 4"-4.5". The further you move the tire and wheel out from under the truck the harder it is on parts.

Eagle Alloy series 185 with this rim I ran a 285/75R16 and a 315/75R16 tire no rubbing, 3” lift and up.
16.0x8.0
Offset -11
BS 4.000

Ion Alloy 171 315/75R16 tire no rubbing. Min 5" lift is needed.
16x10
Offset -38
BS 4.00

Currant wheel Black Iron Outcast to go along with the Dana 60’s, 315/75R16 tire no rubbing.

16x8.5
Bolt pattern 8x6.5
Offset -6
BS 4.5
