You can swap to a homelink OTIS (easily found)

or (if you can find it) an actual EVIC. I did this swap about 10yrs or so ago, went to a longer (sunglasses holder) overhead console as well.

Proper p/n for 02-05 EVIC 56045574AE, whatever you do don't get one from on 06-08; won't work with your PCI bus truck. Nice thing about this is the options, just an example:

Can also train remotes and set a service reminder with the EVIC.

Yeah, it looks like the one I got was from an '02. Good thing is, it looks like they carried that model through a whole bunch of years. I tried the EVIC thing a few years back and never found the right one but was able to change a few things like your previous post shows. Now I want the HomeLink so figured why the hell not give it another shot.

It's handy, that EVIC actually has more use than the ones in my early LX's (that are newer lol)

Yep, unless you switch to the longer console, then you have to change bracket and cut headliner. Module itself though, completely plug and play.

I cant seem to find one with the garage door buttons for under $100. Everyone must have seen this thread and bought them all up.

My EVIC should show up tomorrow sometime. I don;t currently have the extended one, not sure what the additional bracket is yet, will have to do some research and see what all I need to do to install the longer console. That or I'll just swap the EVIC into my current short one.

Just swap it into your short one. If you REALLY want the sunglasses holder, you can do that easily later.

The standard tan color.

EVIC came in today and I swapped it into my original console for now. Looking at the 2 consoles, I think I can get away with drilling a couple holes in the plastic in the map light area like the smaller console has, cutting away some of the headliner and then be able to mount the longer console without needing the longer support bracket for it.

The EVIC itself works great, WAY more features than the OTIS has and everything works, including the instant MPG. BUT, I can't get the Homelink buttons to program, even after clearing them several times. I get the "Did not train" error. I'll have to research and play with it some more, maybe I'm missing something.
