Yes I doDo you have a black key?
So I took out a poorly wired remote start and some cheap amazon lighting strips. Curious why it's not there anymore? That's where the SKIM (Sentry Key Immobilizer Module) would be.
Yes, simple black key means no security/immobilizer. If you did there'd be a module there and you'd have a gray (chipped) key.My key is just a simple black key, not the fancy ones with unlocks and horn on it
Not so much a "not there anymore" as more likely a "never there to begin with" lol.So I took out a poorly wired remote start and some cheap amazon lighting strips. Curious why it's not there anymore?

I'd almost guarantee yours wasn't built with one because someone would not only have to pull the module, they'd have to replace your PCM too (once initialized to SKIM, it's pretty much a SKIM PCM for life). By 2005 it was pretty much standard. It's just the way they ordered or built at the factory. My 2003 doesn't have it but I've seen others with it. By 2006 (in Rams) they all had it because the SKIM & wireless module were combined into one module (SKREEM) for the CAN bus change. You can add it if you want to. You'd have to buy the module, get it initialized to the PCM, buy a chipped key or two and get them programmed to your new SKIM.Dont understand why some do some dont? Just wana make sure if its suppose to have one it does
Thanks for the info! One way to find out for sure though, go here and run your VIN: https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing
If it was built with it then you should find an option like "Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System" or similar.
