Hey guys, brand new to this forum. I have a 2004 1500 that I love and have decided to supercharge her. I wanna do it myself but i dont know where to begin. I need to know what kind of supercharger i should get and if i need to upgrade the transmission. I have 128k miles on it. Any advice would be super helpful. I have a couple buddies who done this kind of work before that are gonna help me a d I am mechanically inclined just haven't ever installed a supercharger.
Thanks guys

I don’t have much knowledge of supercharges but I do know that you will need to toughen up the internals of that engine though.

There’s some very intelligent people here that are usually glad to help and a **** load of information on numerous issues. I’m interested to see the progress. Good luck bud.

O, and :welcome:to the forum.

You can do it, but you’ll o my be running 6-8 lbs on a stock engine. Prepare for at least $3500 on a used setup and 6k+ on a new setup, that’s just for the supercharger. Get ready for more on a better transmission and all the other supporting mods

Everything these guys said and more; how deep down the rabbit hole you wanna (can afford to) go lol? If you wanna run a decent amount of boost you need to build the short block (at this point you also need to decide what displacement you're going with). Then on to the heads. Keeping the stockers? P&P? Big valve? Or upgrade? Eagle or 6.1? Aftermarket? Intake manifold; keep stock for accessory drive or screw with everything to fit a metal one or a car version? You'll not only need an upgraded transmission, but a few of them lol. So far as I know Procharger is the only one that makes a bolt on kit for 3rd gen hemi trucks.

I'm using a vortech v7-Ysi originally driven by the rib belt. I felt it was slipping from what I could see from datalogging. Built a 2" cog belt drive system. Takes bit of work to get it aligned. But once it is adjusted it is good to go.. This is a daily driven street truck and I'm still on the original belt. The truck has perfect street manners. I highly recommend using a cog drive.
