I have a 2005 Daytona Ram, blown motor but have a new Shortblock along with comp 268 cam, new OEM heads built for cam. Looking for a new intake manifold since the old one has some metal in it. Would a intake manifold from the charger challenger 5.7s work? Also would like something that would work good with the cam build I'm doing for a few extra hp if possible but don't wanna spend on $800 on the Edelbrock.

Car intake will not work without some work involving adding intake spacers to clear the block, milling the top of the timing cover for clearance and making brackets to swing the ac compressor and alternator out of the way. I’ve seen some dyno graphs showing a nice improvement especially in low end torque with the car intake (which is surprising) so it might be worth it to you. Other then that, you don’t have much options without spending $800+ for some dual plane, elderbrock or high rise intakes

Not really, 03-08 truck was rated 345hp/375tq but the LX was 340hp/390tq. Always struck me funny that packaging needs ended up dictating what should have been the other way around lol.

I’ll tag you in a dyno graph comparing the two intakes later. It was a direct comparison on the same slightly built motor. The car intake had a huge improvement under the peak curve, I suspect that it has longer runners then the truck does. Could be why it’s rated a few peak hp lower then the truck

This is how I got that info. It’s a mildly built motor, basically a 6.1 stroker, comp 260 and ported early heads. But the comparison is only between the two intake. Maybe the difference on a bone stock motor would be smaller, maybe not

Difference on a bone stock motor would probably be about........5hp and 15tq lol. Regardless on any kind of performance upgrade the earlier intake manifolds are the choke points. Forced induction can overcome quite a bit but still benefits from something that breathes better. Though to be fair, there is a mid 12sec 392 stroker 05 quad cab running around using the stock intake manifold on top of 3rd gen big valve heads lol. The occasional shot of nitrous puts him at about 12 flat.

Yep I’ve read ever old thread from chefred I could find. He popped up on HTC recently for a hot minute and then disappeared. Stock heads are killing my motor right now. I’ll be matching the mods he had on the truck, run slicks, drop all the front 4wd components, any extra weight I can. Hopefully I’ll pull off my own 12 this year. Only difference is I’ll be running the eagles, intake and a different trans

I thought for sure he had 4.56’s. Almost every fast 3rd gen has 4.56’s

Not every. Greg has 4.10's (unless he changed them).

You got me curious because I swear I saw exactly what gears he was using, but trying to follow a few years of info on various forums I believe he had 3.92, 4.10 and 4.56 at different times. Even if he had 4.10’s at some point with the 545, my longer trans ratios with the 46re and 4.56’s should be close to equal within a few points

He did for a good long while, but switched in 2012. Took me a sec to find it: https://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=357061
