My truck, nothing special, but I don't want to spend 90k on a new truck. I bought it new, I've been a tech at a dealership for longer then I've had the truck. I have never been happy with the power level, It got worse after putting 35s on it. I have 2 easily rebuildable 6.4 cores. I understand the 545RFE won't like an extra 200hp, that is another issue.
I know the tone wheel on the crank and the cam are both different from my 5.7. I understand the cam phaser can be blocked off, but I have not found where to get that. Can the 2007 cam gear be installed onto the newer cam? My timing cover will not fit over the oil pump or the phaser for the cam. What about pulling the PCM from a 2500 with a VVT hemi and a 66RFE? If I can figure out the swap for a 66RFE and 2012 and up PCM to go with it, that would solve the crappy 545RFE issue at the same time and would be able to keep a column shifter as opposed to the electronic shifter on the 8 speed.
The idea is to have everything ready before taking my truck apart, it's not my daily but also don't want it down for months while building the 5.7. It runs fine now, just gutless.
