Truck has been parked for 6 months, starts and runs on front 4 cylinders only, changed spark plugs and did a compression test, 100 on all 8 cylinders. i am stumped at what it could be.

I would change coil packs to see if you have some bad. If it does not change , do you have MDS on your truck? If so it might be faulty.

switched out 2 coils and did not help, not sure about mds as not sure if it should cut in while in neutral at idle, tried driving it and it will stay on the 4 cylinders

If mds solenoids failed it’ll cut out your 4 cylinders. Are you 100% sure if which cylinders are not firing? Is it a spark issue or a fuel issue? Maybe check fuses to see and follow wiring harness to make sure nothing got chewed up.

It's not MDS if it's only running on the front 4 (MDS is 1, 4, 6 & 7). 100 psi is low for that engine; good that they're all consistent, but if it isn't operator or gauge error then something is wrong. What 'plug wires' did you pull? A 2008 5.7 only has coil packs.
