Hello all,

owner of 2008 Ram with 3.6 v6 and 250K miles. Trying to make it last another year. Check engine light comes on with about 7 or 8 chimes when downshifting or going up an incline.

Any linked discussion topics, or advice on what to check? Per an Autozone code recommendation, replaced all 6 plugs and coils but still happening.

thanks!

What codes were set? Without knowing, it's a shot in the dark.

Well, Google to the rescue:

P0300 - random or multiple misfire
P0138 - bank 1 O2 sensor 2 sensor circuit high voltage
P0038 - Heater control circuit high, bank 1 O2 sensor 2

So, that's the post-cat sensor, so it's measuring cat efficiency, not making mixture adjustments. If it's got wiring issues, then perhaps there are other wiring issues in that vicinity. Bad grounds, perhaps? It seems to be telling you both the sensor heater and sensing element are open, most likely because it's got an open ground. Bank 1 is driver's side. Follow the wires from the sensor after the cat and see where they lead. Hopefully they weren't eaten by rodents.

Check the ground strap from the engine to the body while you're at it.
