Just bought my first dodge ever a couple days ago. 2011 1500 4.7 4x4 quadcab. I love it. I have a few questions about everyday driving. Home to work is 30 miles each way, alot of hills at 55mph. My tranny seems to down shift alot. Like downshift any time I give it a little more gas after Ive been going steady for a bit, and every hill. Is that normal? Should I manually put it in a certain gear for that part of my drive? And just driving around the city, light to light, should I just manually put it in a certain gear for that kind of driving? Or just drive it normally in regular drive and let it downshift when it wants to? Thanks in advance.

On the highway I say drive it as normal or you can turn on the tow/haul mode, that might help with the downshifting. Among other things it turns the overdrive off. It may even change the shift points slightly, I'm not sure. On the hemi it also turns off the MDS, but you don't have to worry about that because you have the 4.7. In the city just drive as normal.

When I had my '09 4.7 4x4, I used Tow/Haul mode in the hilly areas. Seemed to like it better.
