Recently picked up a 2012 Ram 2500 with a cummins 6.7. This is pre DEF, so my question is... How does the DPF regen or does it? As I understand the whole DEF system, its there to burn out all the soot, so without a DEF system what stops the DPF from plugging up?
I would just delete it but thats near impossible these days.
Thanks in advance for your help..

12’ was the last year of no DEF. That’s why your truck and mine (an 11’) get **** poor fuel mileage as it uses MORE fuel during Regeneration. Your truck also has a NOX filter and a CAT in the down pipe. It’s one of the many reasons that some trucks go on a diet.

I just picked this truck up so trying to find out as much as possible. Thanks for the reply. As far as "Diet" goes, that's getting pretty tough nowadays.
