I just installed a Magna Flow muffler on my 2012 Ram Hemi. Love the sound but I lost low end power and 2 mpg/... I am thinking about swapping back to the stock.. Anyone else discover this?

At first yeah, but lately thats not the case...I never got 12 mpg before.. always got 14-15mpg average.... same route to work... bogs down more now on any grade than before..

Loss of back pressure maybe causing the mds not to kick in as much.... Ever notice that the mds is coming on less?

New muffler equals mashing throttle more to hear it. Ease up on the gas

Mufflers

Magnaflow mufflers have a drone, at first this is not annoying but after a while they will drive you out.

I recently installed a Varaflow muffler, this muffler has a electric motor on the muffler controlled by a rocker switch under my dash. They have an internal baffling system that puts out power in the loud or quiet mode.

They are available from Jegs, Summit Racing, Pertronix.

You can have that great sound and at the flip of a switch much quieter.

Thats what I was thinking too.... The MDS appears to be coming on more .. seems to want more fuel for the extra air its letting thru..

Been going easy on the pedal lately and still the same... It is a CA model.. maybe its a little leaner than some .. not sure.. even when I was on it before it didn't get down to 11 mpg as it does now easily..

I got Magnaflow on mine and have not noticed a difference, my gas just goes down cause i got a heavy foot lol. But i would take it back to the place you got it done and ask them to re weld it, there may be a leak in the pipe.

Its 18 inches long... It seems like I need a heavier foot just to make it go the same at low rpm's .. at high rpms I have no problems... I checked for exhaust leaks and didn't find any. I am going to be towing 9500 lbs behind it like I did behind my F150 that I traded in and want all the low end torque I can get..

Yep.... I usually only experienced that when I increased the tubing diameter. Normally the muffler alone was the towing answer to my other trucks.. When I bought this truck I also wasn't aware that there were no programers available either for these trucks.. Kinda bummed. I should have checked that out first I guess.. my fault
