WARNING: There is a wall of text below with some pictures for our picture book fans out here on RF's. If you don't want to read or look at pictures you don't have too.. If you have any questions or want information or pictures of anything just ask in the thread, I'm sure someone else is thinking the same thing but is just too bashful to ask.

TL;DR - I've spent too much ******* money.

This is the life story of my 2013 Regular Cab, Short-box Ram 1500 Sport. Going to attempt to keep this up to date as well as possible. I will also try to put pictures up of modifications, problems, and just general ones I take when she's looking good.

- 15/07/2013 - Buying The Truck -

My Father and I have been looking for a vehicle. We had a set of requirements that the vehicle we were to purchase needed to satisfy:
  • 4WD for the Montana and Canada long harsh winters.
  • Decent Clearance in-case the interstate isn't adequately plowed or it snows a ton while in transit.
  • Storage capacity to transfer University supplies to and from school.
  • Black (every vehicle we own is Black on Black)
  • Easily Serviceable in Butte, MT where I go to school.
  • Economically reasonable but reliable (no cheap made or high mileage vehicles).
  • I wanted a decent sound system for the 6-8 hour drive (rather not all aftermarket).
We narrowed it down between a new or low mile Subaru WRX STI (I liked the Sedan but I'm inclined to say we would have went with the Hatch for the space :flipthebird:), or a Truck of some sort.

We ended up on one of the Dodge lots in town somehow just looking at their trucks because we loved the way they looked. In all honesty I hated and still do not prefer Trucks. I am a car guy at heart and at this time I was driving a 2004 Audi S4 with the V8. But then I saw it. The Regular Cab, and I knew right away this was the best compromise between Truck and Car. It met all the requirements and there was 2 of them on the lot, sister trucks. Both in Black with the same options and literally VINs that were nearly matching. I'm pretty sure the window sticker listed it @ $52,000 CAD. I have it at home somewhere..

I immediately take pictures and email my grandfather (Mom's side), he is a retired Firefighter who works for his Friend's Dodge Dealership in North Alberta. He's the guy who drives the vehicle to a nearby city when two dealers make a trade or whatever. My grandfather, through his local dealership, strike up a deal to trade a relatively baseline 2013 Charger + Cash for the Ram I wanted to buy.

The next day he drives the Charger down, makes the trade, and now the ball is in my park. I'm not sure if I should even post this on the internet.. but I bought the truck from my grandfathers friend (dealership owner) for COST + Gas Money for both ways. When I say COST I am talking about the $ amount the dealer spent on the truck, not the factory invoice but more of the $ Amount which is:

Actual Cost = Factory Invoice - Chrysler Factory Hold-back - Dealer Rebate(s)

The Factory Hold-back is usually 3% of the dealers invoice price and Rebates can vary depending on the time of the year etc. I'm sure the Mathematically skilled RF Members can work out what I paid but I don't feel comfortable saying it myself. Brought up humbly, money is just something you save and spend on your Friends and Family! Now that I think about it, unless they got a good deal for that Charger the dealer would have actually lost money unless my grandfather wasn't on the clock.

So here I am, 20 years old with a brand new 2013 Ram 1500 Sport RCSB:
  • 3.92 Gears and LSD
  • Tow Package
  • Convenience Package
  • Comfort Package
  • Spray-in Bed Liner
  • Premium Sound System
  • Backup Camera
  • Cloth Bucket Seats
  • 20" Rims.
  • Sport Hood.
  • 8.4 Uconnect w/ Nav
  • Weathertec Floor Mats
And for anyone who thinks my Daddy bought it for me, You would be wrong. I have had summer jobs since the age of 14. Combine that income with academic and athletic scholarships and you will understand How a 20 year old kid paid cash. I was lucky to have the help of my grandfather in order to get the price I did, other than that the Haters can RIP. :biggun:

- 15/08/2014 - Sick w/ Hemifever?? -

A whole school year later, but I'm tired of loosing my Red Light races.. after hours of research and the suggestion by Matt @Moes I finally go ahead and order a Diablosport Trinity T-1000 with the Hemifever tune.

Car Guy = No Love for Lifts or even stock ride heights. Time to drop. Do my research and end up budgeting a little and choosing Mcgaughys 2/4 Deluxe Drop Kit w/ Front Spindles and Rear Coils. (Will regret this decision current day)

- 02/01/2015 - Tax Return = Sub Money -

I Love JL Audio. Had a custom box designed to fit behind the seats, I had to remove the plastic cargo holder that normally inhabits the behind-seat area. I went with a JL slash series amp and two 10" low profile JL Subs, all the newest models. If anyone wants pictures I can take some but I have never been the type to show off their audio builds!

- 01/06/2015 - Broke College Student Achieved, But a Second Modding Wind?? -

I stopped spending money near the end of school, but now I have been working my internship as a petroleum engineer and I am getting steady paychecks again. Time to get serious, no more screwing around.

Was debating what to do next. A fellow RF member who is located near me chimed in and came in clutch with a $299 Discount Code on my Stainless Works 1 3/4" Cat-less Long Tube Headers. This site was also Canadian based and it shipped out of Ontario yesterday For Free. Owe N1ck a beer for sure. :favorites13:

No I never checked, I dont want too. I dont want to cry if its less. That being said its been a long period of time since I bought and installed my own.

Yesterday evening my friend traded in his BMW 3 Series for an identical truck to mine (Year, model, options). So I guess I'm going to have to help him go fast soon with all the research I have accumulated over the last 2ish years.

CONT'D:

- 16/06/15 - Time To Fix The Mcgaughys Abortion -

The 2" Mcgaughys drop spindles are killing my CV's. Already had one replaced by warranty no questions asked. I finally was quoted on the price of the Ground Force 2" Front Drop Coils and I have the stock spindles in my garage (lightly used to beat the windows in on a car we sent to salvage so I hope they are still Gucci..)

Being Canadian sucks, so with the CAD -> USD conversion and then shipping charges w/ import taxes sometimes it's hard to purchase from Matt or other similar guys. I managed to find a listing on ebay.ca for the Spohn Adjustable Panhard Bar I need to help stiffen up my suspension in the rear.

Mod $: $147.95 USD Mod $ Total: $6,009.44 USD

TY for destroying my CV's and trans-axles *****. Way to update your website only recently saying it causes unneeded stress on CV's. That's sketchy ass small print ****.

  3. Customtronix 8.4 Uconnect Jailbreak Bronze Level.
  4. Drag Radials ( I'll need RF's help to size and order whats best for me).
  5. ATI Underdrive Pulley
  6. Efan swap and clutch fan delete
  7. Spohn Control Arms if Suspension is still ****.

Haha Thanks man.

I was bored and thought maybe next week, next month, or next year ETC someone like me might come along and wonder where others started and how they went through and what the costs and troubles were. This one has it all in a list and there isn't a bunch of talking or random comments between additions for the majority and for now.

It's kinda a build thread I would have wanted to stumble across when I first started. I personally idolized guys like DavidRam and Hemi450HP's trucks and tried to replicate them with my own flare and style. :homoswitch:

David doesn't drive his, he has a bike, he leaves his in the garage and just Google's mods to do, sometimes 3 or 4 times on the same mod.

j/k

Both have very detailed builds, I envy them and their patience.
