We're sorry to hear you're having such a hard time with this. Do you need me to escalate your inquiry to a Case Specialist that'll help get things moving? Send me a direct message with your VIN if so.

I started a conversation with you.....couldn't figure out how to direct message you. Sorry

I received my truck back yesterday. Asked them what was done, told me cracked tranny oil pan, replaced gasket. Transmission oil cooler bad, replaced as well as gasket. Didn't clean it very well underneath...will do tonight. Asked him why my tranny pan cracked....no idea. Regardless, good to have my truck back....still debating on keeping it or letting it go. Warranty is good, and only 56K, so still debating. Thank you all for your help and advice. Still really peeved about no loaner....'factory recall, under warranty, order parts', but no loaner. Hmmm.

FCA as policy does not provide loaners for service or warranty recalls unless you bought the MaxCare extended warranty. Some dealers do regardless, but it is not an entitlement.

For most people, I would argue the point of keeping it and get your money's worth out of it. In your case given what you have said and your standard of expectations and lack of trust in your local RAM dealerships, you would probably be better served buying new with another brand and establishing a relationship elsewhere. I think you are going to be hyper critical going forward if any other problem arises with your RAM and it will be a "rinse and repeat" of sub standard to your expectations of getting service.

Hootbro, not disagreeing with you. However, if RAM wonders why they aren't selling as many trucks as other companies are, they need to look inward. When I received my truck back yesterday, it REALLY FELT great driving it off the lot. As I have said, I love everything about my RAM LS, I just despise the crappy and unprofessional customer service. My expectations are not high, but I do demand to be treated with respect and honesty. Anyone that requires less gets what they deserve.

As for the loaner, I think you will find that because it was a 'recall/warranty' situation, a loaner would have been appropriate. Nissan, Toyota, Honda would have in a heartbeat. So, with that said, I am keeping my truck for a few reasons.

1. I have a great warranty for another 2.5 years/45000 miles....hopefully I will deal with Toyota Service Department and not Dodge again.
2. Don't feel like going in debt again...
3. And as previously stated, I love my RAM LS. Everything about it.

But after discussing with the wife IF anything else goes wrong with it, that is not common, its gone. I hope the 'bugs' have been worked out of it. Only time will tell.

Again, thank you all for your help and advise. I didn't start this post to ***** and whine. I started it for advise and maybe to help others. If it does, then it was worth it.

Semper Fi!

Well, here it is a few months later and another oil leak. Can't tell yet what it is or where it is coming from (was dark when i left). Really tired of this. If I drove my truck hard, if I pulled ANYTHING, if I went off road, I could at least begin to expect it. But I don't. Will call dealership again and see what evolves out of it. Just swell....

My service advisor had my truck looked at and stated that the oil filter housing is leaking oil as well as the oil pressure switch. They can't service it because these parts are covered under the factory warranty. He is fully aware of the 'difficulty' I have had with 2 of the Dodge dealerships here, so he made some phone calls for me and got me a appointment for this coming Weds. The service at Alamo Toyota is top notch, and I don't even own a Toyota. 2 major oil leaks and now this one in a 12 month time frame. When the mechanic that inspected my vehicle approached us, he said this wasn't a surprise..."It's plastic, not surprised and the same for your tranny pan." I hope next week doesn't go as badly as last time.....

Hopefully this will fix it for you. I have seen shops either over tighten and break the oil filter housings on a few Pentastars, or forget the o-ring cap seal on them causing massive oil leaks.

One of the reasons I just can't bring myself to have someone do oil changes for me. Many techs just don't care, or are inexperienced.

I had that leak in my Pentastar Wrangler. No biggie.

I’m sorry, but this younger generation, for the most part, is lazy, apathetic and quite often , just plain dumb. Service problems are only going to get worse.

I’m very lucky. My local dealership is not perfect. I wouldn’t let their body shop paint a barn. But engine and chassis, they are pretty good.

As far as trading vehicles, it’s eother the hell you know or the hell you don’t know.

My truck is going back in again on Wednesday for the 4th time to try to find my oil leak. When it was in two weeks ago they confirmed (again, as they had in August) that there is NO crack in the filter housing, just the oil filter keeps backing off. This time, the had the tech really crank it down. Sure enough, 400 miles, she's dripping again.
That's telling me (logically) that the threads must be damaged, if the filter keeps backing off.

My dealership is being pretty cool about it, they are going to give a loaner on Wednesday, but it's getting frustrating. Truck is out of warranty in February, and this needs fixed. Aside from this I've not had a single issues.

Swexlin, when you say the filter keeps backing off, are you referring to the cover for the filter housing? Like you say, that should never happen. The threaded cover/cap only needs to be snugged and should stay put.

They didn't clarify - only that the oil filter keeps loosening...which I've never had happen on any of the many vehicles I've owned over the years. This has been very frustrating.

2 days ago I cleaned my truck. I keep it very clean and the maintenance on it up and to date. Backed out of my drive way and damn if there was a 2 foot long oil stain on it. Fresh. Crawled up under, and could see oil dripping from the side of the tranny pan. My truck has the V6, 8 speed transmission. I bought used from Alamo Toyota, with only 25K on it 2 years ago. It now has 56K on it and a warranty from them. So I drove it to Alamo Toyota (which has the best service department I have ever seen) and they immediately took it in to look at it. They said that they would have to run dye thru it, gave me a free rental (Tacoma v6...what a dog) and sent me on my way. 4 hours later they call me and tell me that the tranny is leaking from the 'plastic pan' and at the bell housing as well. It is covered under warranty, but only by Dodge. I have a history here with Dodge and to be honest, they are THE WORST service departments I have EVER dealt with. The service manager called the Dodge Service Dept., and they had my truck towed to their dealership. This was 7:00 pm Friday night. So I called the service department Saturday morning around 10:00 and just as I thought, freak'n useless. Wouldn't confirm that my truck was there, because the person that was spoken to wouldn't be in until Monday. Told me that even if it was covered under power-train warranty, they don't do loaners. And since it was a gasoline engine, it would be 4-5 days until they could look at it.

About 10 months ago, I had another oil leak. Like I said, I keep my engine and drive way spotless, just for this reason. That and I like a clean engine. Again, after cleaning my truck, I noticed oil on the drive way. Sure enough, oil leak from the transmission, but turned out it was actually the OSU that was bad, leaking oil at the back of the engine on top of the transmission. Thinking it was transmission related, made a appointment with Dodge (same freak'n dealership) to get it looked at. I won't go into my tirade, but when I arrived I was laughed at, told I didn't have an appointment (which they miraculously found), didn't know who I was (again, they figured it out) so on and so forth. Was told to 'calm down' after being laughed at by a 'kid'. LSS, they cleaned my engine, said it was the OSU and wanted $650 to change it. I told them to go somewhere, give me my truck (had to pay them $100 for engine cleaning and environmental oil cleanup) and took it to Alamo Toyota immediately. They gave me a free loaner, and had it done in 1 day. I have a $100 deductible, but they said I had been thru enough they didn't charge me anything.

I have owned 4 Dodge's in my life (I am 55 now) and NEVER had a problem with any of them, until now. Is this normal? Anyone else experiencing these issues, attitudes from the dealership, etc? I was really hosed over by Chevrolet quite a few years ago and have never purchased another 'bowtie' product again...and never will. Looking more and more like Dodge is going to make that list. It's a shame. Love my truck and the Lone Star version has everything I ever wanted on it.

Rant over. Have a great Sunday.

Leave it to toyota to have the best dealer story around, lol. I had 3 chevy's that were lemons (3 in a row), I won only one lemon case on them because I didn't file on the other two, but this dude will never own a Chevy again unless it is a presmog one, 1974 or lower.

I have been changing my own oil since I was 16. Back when we had 'grease nipples'. :) Yeah, I'm getting old. Regardless. to say I am frustrated is just a huge understatement. This is my 4th and last Dodge. Loved the other 3 and had NOTHING go wrong with them other then normal wear and tear or self-inflicted. TBH, if it wasn't for the **** POOR attitude at EVERY dealership in this town, I would probably think about another RAM. But I can't deal with the stress of talking to them. Had to pop two aspirin last time. I will keep this truck until the warranty gets ready to expire, then trade it in on a Nissan Titan. Yeah, I know, but Nissan's have always been good to me, and World Car Nissan here in San Antonio is first rate.... Besides, I figure by then, the 'Titan' identity' crisis will be over with... :) I will post more after the dealership gets my Ram on Wed. Keeping my fingers crossed that they just do the right thing and that's it.

As for Bow-Ties (Chevy's, GM) will NEVER own another one. Ever.

I received my truck back the day after i took it in. Actually, it was done that same day, but was too late to pick it up. The service manager I dealt with was professional and extremely helpful. As soon as I told him my name, the told me I wouldn't be going thru or treated the way I was last time again, promise. And I certainly was not. Very pleasant overall situation. They replaced the oil filter housing, and did two recall updates: Transmission and safety.

Wish the other experiences had been half as good as this one was. Now...the clock is ticking...hopefully no more oil leaks.
