2014 Pentastar Towing question

My RV weighs in at 5200lbs loaded. How will the Pentastar tow this weight. I see the 2014 towing capacity has been upgraded to 7450lbs. I only put on maybe 1000miles a year camping, other than that it a straight commuter vehicle 2 miles to work and hauling two sled in the winter at about a total weight of 1200lbs. I'm thinking the hemi would be overkill.

You need to verify that tow rating.I'm not too concerned about towing much weight, but wanted to know the limit.My salesman pulled a sheet based on my VIN from Ram showing payload, tow capacity and gross weight.My V6 2WD has 3.21 gears and my tow rating is less than 5K #.Hope that helps some.

I agree gear ratio is a factor with the pentastar...pentastar 8spd 321 gears rated at just over 4100lbs

All you do is select you truck and option. Or put in your VIN and it will tell you.

But 5000+ sounds like Hemi territory to me.

7450 towing capacity is likely for a basic, regular cab 2wd truck and a single 150lb driver, no luggage. Add doors, options, passengers and cargo, and you're up there in weight for a v6.
