Well, add me to the low mileage 2014 (37k) fuel level sensor failure group. Waiting to hear back from the dealer.

I found a good fix, just had to drive mine to carmax and they cut me a check. Excluding my 68 Dart which was an awesome car but is far enough detached I can say that was my first and last chrysler product

All you guys having fuel pump/sender issues, have you taken a poll to see what fuel or additives you're running and seeing if there's a possible connection there? I know a year or so ago shell had a problem with too much sulfur that was creating pump problems. I, myself always run top tier gas but sometimes I wander if even though it's supposedly keeping injectors cleaner if it's having a negative effect on the fuel pump or electronics in the tank. I have no idea if this is a possibility, just wandering what if.

Is the sender actually in contact with the fuel? I would expect that the wires from the level sensor plug in to pump and the pump is just a convenient location for the sender to get power.

My gas comes from a slight rotation based on where I am when my range drops below 150 miles. It is not Shell or Mobile every fill up.

I get gas from a multitude of different stations, no additives. Truck also rarely sees less than 1/2 a tank.

Update on my truck, dealer has had it since yesterday, heard nothing back. I called at 11am, the tech working on my truck was on another call. 1:30 now, no call back.

i get gas at once station, my tank never goes below half, rarely goes below 2/3rds of a tank, and use the same station for all 5 trucks, and the 14 was the only one to have that problem

Hi Forcepro,

If you need any assistance while your vehicle is in service at your dealer, please PM us with your VIN along with the name of your dealership so we can look into this.

Thanks!

Talked to the tech today, it is the fuel level sensor. They are replacing it for $550 OTD, not covered under the power train warranty.

First quote was $680 but I told him I would just get the part from them and do it myself, that’s when he said they could do it for the $550.

Add me to the list with my 2104 5.7L. 31,000 miles 37 months. Just bought the lease out a month ago. I swear that 10 minutes before the dash lights and gauges started acting up I was thinking to myself that when I get home I should post here to see if all I will need to do is oil changes for the first 100k miles or if there is stuff that will likely fail or need maintenance ?

I just had the safety restraint recall flashed in and was hoping that maybe they just screwed that up. Now that it seems this a known and expensive problem I am hoping the dealer will cover it since I technically had to sell him the truck and then buy it back from him including a dealer fee.

Check engine light is also on. I am bringing it in for service in the morning.

So this isn't covered by the power train warranty ?

They said it 's the sensor/sending unit. They need me to run some gas out and then they have to drop the fuel tank. It's $439 and not covered.

I’m at 52000 miles on my 14 1500, you all got me puckering a little bit on this. I wonder if I’m the rarity to this.

My build should/might be in 2013 (with a pre-14 fuel pump/sensors) but sold as a 2014 model as I picked it up new in January 2014. I also ordered it through Ram and not purchased direct off the lot.

2014, 1500, 46000 miles. Mine is in the shop for the third sensor unit. Sad they can do the basic things needed for an auto to operate.

My 14 just through through that code with 42550 miles. Can't we open a complaint with the feds? This should be a recall or at minimum a tsb.
