2016 5.7 Misfire on number 8 cylinder

2016 5.7 had a misfire on number 8 cylinder. I changed the plugs and coil pack,done nothing. I swapped number 8 with number 5 plugs and coil,still the same misfire. I unplugged every coilpack while truck was running,and it bogged down with every cylinder cept for 8,which there was no change. I pulled the fuel rain and made sure the number 8 cylinder was squirting and it was. I checked all visible wires and connections along with fuses. Everything looked good. I'm at a stand still and desperately need help. The codes are
- P2323 Ignition coil H secondary circuit.
- P0308 Cylinder 8 misfire detected.

It's probably the cam lob, is there any ticking? I'd check the voltage to that coil. There is at least a chance with that second code it is the wire going to 8. Keep running codes as much as you can. Clear those codes and see if the same pop up tomorrow.

I'm ready to pick my 2500HD GMC up now. P0306 and P0206 codes. Swapped wires to 4 and plugs to 2. Cleared codes and nothing changed. Towed to mechanic, some vermint chewed through the wiring harness on top of engine. Cheap fix, considering the alternative.

I cleared the codes,same ones popped back up this am. Yes,it has a tick. It's had a tick for the last 100,000 miles when it's cold. Then it warms up and it goes away. I will check the wires at the coil and see what the reading is and go from there.

Need to probe the wires and make sure you are getting power to the #8 coil. What did the plugs look like?

I did a compression test. I pulled a plug on the #3 cylinder and the plug and coilpack was covered in oil. I had 185 lbs of pressure in the #3 cylinder n 155 lbs in the #8.

well clearly you need valve cover gaskets since plug and coil where covered in oil you can check to make sure all rocker arms move while your in there will rule out cam/lifter issues.

So I just had this issue last month and it turned out that my lifter went bad and it ate through the camshaft. I needed to get all the lifters and camshaft replaced. I was getting the P0308 code and the truck had loss of power. Surely enough after a $6,900 dollar job the problem went away.

ouch did you just replace the cam and lifters for that price because you could’ve got a brand new engine for like 6600 I just swapped out but I went a 392 option so yeah I got a little bit more money than I do it

I had the same problem w cyl 4 &5 misfire codes. It was a long ordeal. I changed coil packs, wires,plugs, swapped new 4&5 coil packs w/ 1&2 packs & no change in codes. Put new fuel injectors, cam sensor, checked wiring power to pcm which was fine. Erased codes & they came right back on to same misfire cyl 4&5 codes. Finally brought it to a mechanic for a pinpoint diagnosis. Diagnosis- the coil drivers internal to PCM had gone bad, replaced PCM. Problem solved.

It's runs now with no misfires now that I fixed the broken wire,however I know I still need to change the valve cover gasket bc of the oil in cylinder 3,and it's still ticking it's ass off,which it's been doing for 90,000 miles now. No tellin what's causing that.

I had the p308 and another one for multiple misfires. Turned out to be the hemi t...k. (I don't like saying that word)
Number 8 lifters were eating into the cam and #4 was starting to. I'm doing all the repairs myself except I took the heads to a machine shop to have the valves done and to have 3 broken exhaust bolts removed. One with part of an extractor in it. Hahaha
This is not too complicated of a job to do but, be ready to replace everything else you find wrong. Cam $359, lifters $850(all 4 sets), head gasket set was about 250 and timing chain gasket set $70.

Oh, and I had an old rat nest under the intake manifold too. And some roasted and aged pecans.

A tick on startup that subsides when warm is usually broken exhaust manifold bolts. When the engine is cold (and off...lol), reach in through the wheel wells and grab the corners of the manifold shields and see if they are loose. If so, broken bolts it is.

A very common problem among Ram owners, but very fixable, and relatively easy to fix as well.

Please check and post what you find.

I 2nd that....
Broken ex.manifold bolt/bolts
Grab the shield and see if it rattles. Usually rear bolts

我有一辆2014年Ram 1500 5.7 SLT,行驶里程为290,000公里(约180,000英里)。昨天前,我更换了导管轴和电梯。维修后我行驶了约100公里(约60英里),但现在主板噪音似乎不正常。

更换凸轮轴和挺杆前,发动机灯会在 4,000 RPM 时闪烁,并伴有明显的震动。检查诊断代码后,它指示 8 缸失火。在日常驾驶中,会出现明显的振动,在驻车 (P) 模式下也能感觉到。但是,发动机没有异常噪音。经检查,拆下的凸轮轴磨损严重,三个挺杆已损坏。
