2017 2500 dome light

I have a 2017 2500 and the dome light doesn't come on with any of the doors open unless the ignition switch is on is this right or does it have some kind of override or something that I've missed ??

Check to make sure your dash and interior lighting rotary switch, under the headlight switch, isn't turned off (full left). If it is, it turns off the interior lights. Rotate it to the right a bit to get past the On/Off detent.




It the switch is rotated to the right past the detent and your dome and interior lights don't come on when you unlock the vehicle with the fob and open the door, there may be a problem with the door switch.

Have you checked to see if the lights come on when you open one of the other doors?

It doesn't come on with any door open but it comes on when you turn on the switch

I don't think you understood his post. if your dimmer switch is turned all the way to the left, your interior lights will not come on when any door is opened. if the dimmer switch is ANYWHERE except all the way to the left, the lights will come on when a door is opened. that is likely your culprit.

That is Not the problem it doesn't matter which position the dimmer switch is in... The dome light does not come on unless the ignition switch is on

If I'm not mistaken shouldn't that dimmer switch turn on the dome light if you roll it all the way right ?

The LEDs. Under the mirrors come on and the gauge panel light up when the door opens but the dome light does not come on . It doesn't come on when you lock or unlock with the key fob .... The ONLY way I can get it to come on is turn on the ignition switch

Per page 183 of your Owner's Manual (and reiterating MADDOG):

"Courtesy and dome lights are turned on when the front doors are opened, when the dimmer control (rotating wheel on the bottom of the switch) is rotated to the far right detent position. If your vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry, and the unlock button is pushed on the key fob, the courtesy and dome lights will turn on. When a door is open, and the interior lights are on, rotating the dimmer control all the way left, to the off detent, will cause all the interior lights to go out. This is also known as the Party mode because it allows the doors to stay open for extended periods of time without discharging the vehicle’s battery."
