Ok folks. I know the initial spike is 100% Normal. But last couple weeks after it’s been sitting for a while it acts strange.

I get the initial spike. Lowers after a few then climbs back up. The example in my video is actually tame compared to most. It’s a little warmer so not as dramatic.

What would cause this ?

The throttle position sensor is intergrated into the TB,and as far as I know is non-serviceable,you buy another throttle body to replace it.

Wasn't aware of this. Had one replaced in my 11 ram sport under warranty att around 3000 miles of ownership.

so is your truck stock or do you have it tuned, reason mine would do that after i put a custom tune in it but since has been cleaned up after the tuner did a different tune and i was throwing fuel sensor codes like crazy

Don't you have warrenty yet,if it's the truck in your profile you're talking about? Why not take it to your dealer if you do.Honestly by your video,it looks okay to me,both my wifes 16 Challenger and my 14 1500 can take upwards of a minute to actually stabilize on idle if the engine is cold.

I do have warranty. I just prefer to know what I’m dealing with prior to my visit. It’s been my experience when simply dropping off a vehicle and saying it makes a noise usually gets “cannot replicate” after a day or two of me not having a vehicle while they look into the “noise”.

If rather be informed or know where to let the mechanics start looking. Or maybe it’s something I can do myself. I googled my issue but usually it’s 3rd Gen Rams or not the symptoms I’m having and the video is not as dramatic as it usually is. I understand there is a rise In RPM when starting a vehicle but it goes down (which is what normally happens) but now it spikes back up after settling down.

As mentioned previously the TPS could be the issue but when I look up 2017 ram 1500 TPS or throttle position sensor I don’t see parts.

Also, a couple weeks ago I had a random CEL come on. I replaced gas cap and disconnected battery cables for 30 minutes. Put them back on and the light never came back on. It was a generic evap code. Maybe these issues are related and the battery pulling just erased the code but issue remains ?

Take a look at your throttle body, you'll see one side of it is a black composite plastic that clips on with about a 1/2 dozen spring clips, that's where your TPS is located. If you can find another throttle body from the same year, you can pop the clips off,and swap the whole side and see if that changes anything, but if you find somebody who'll loan you their throttle body for a test, that'd be your better way to see if it's your TPS.You might be able to use a 14+ throttle body, but on that one i'm not exactly sure. There's 2 flat blade pins inside that engage with the drive motor to sense it's position, but I've never had any issue with them, when I've swapped the whole side of the throttle body.If you're trying something like this, make sure you have the battery disconnected.I fought issues with my 14 awhile ago,and swapped sides around on a few throttle bodies trying to sort things out, before I discovered it was a poor wiring connection to my nitrous that was causing my issues, lol.

Hemi's love nitrous, lol.Nitrous displaces air in the intake port, but the Hemi has big enough intake ports to handle the displaced air and still flow enough to feed the cylinder, lol. To bad you're in Fords province,if you were out west farther towards Kenney's province,i have several 2014 throttle bodies laying around with the side already popped off them you could try

I usually only use the nitrous at the track, once in awhile i'll turn it on,on the street, but that's more for showing off,as traction is non existent on street tires, lol
