Been working on getting a 97 TJ fixed up for my brother since his ford 6.0 engine had some needle bearings make their way through the oil pump

How it started off:

Where it’s at right now (~50% done)

That looks great! I have a soft spot for those late 90's TJ's
Always been my favorite keeps as well! I’m jealous it’s not gonna be mine haha
But at least I get to build it and wrench on it which is half the fun of having a jeep

Brothers jeep is all finished up and made it to Illinois for him and I only lost the power steering hose on the drive up

He’s now using it as a daily driver and a weekend bow hunting vehicle

I’m gonna be curious for his feedback on how the falken wildpeak at3w do in the Illinois ice this winter

Looked at getting some centramatic balancing rings installed on the truck today. They don’t make any specific for ram 1500 but they had some for 5 lug jeeps
Used a step bit to open the wheel stud holes up and they are so close to fitting but are blocked by the Brake caliper. It looks like I’ll need a 3/8-1/2 wheel spacer to get the clearance I need

Ill need a spacer about the thickness of the blue hub centric adapter. Im thinking either 3/8" or 1/2". I would like to get by without having to mess with the wheel studs if at all possible.

HID low beam kit from Xenon depot on the way.
While I was on their website I saw the LED pod fog light kit from diode dynamics.. defintely looks tempting but $500 fog lights is quite a bit of money...

Tried to install HIDs in my low beams from Xenon depot yesterday. Right out of the box either the ballast, igniter or relay was bad and one wouldn’t turn on. Tried reversing the polarity just for kicks and it didn’t help so I guess I’m sticking with halogen bulbs. Once I get my money refunded I may look at the diode dynamics led fog light kit + a single row bar in the front bumper.

Today I did a tire rotation that was a bit overdue. These Cooper tires started cupping on the front and I’m hoping that by doing a diagonal rotation they’ll sort themselves out within 500-1000 miles

Front drivers side tire. Front passenger looked just like it
All 4 tires were set to 35 psi cold for my trip to Tennessee and back

This is my second set of Coopers that have done this to me (happened on my 4Runner as well) and I know it’s not worn suspension like everyone wants to try to say it is because my 4Runner did all 4 tires evenly and at the same time. Looks like I won’t be using Cooper anymore after this set and won’t be recommending them either

It's probably the alignment. In all my years owning trucks, it's always been the alignment when the tires cupped. Not enough negative camber or too much positive camber.

The troubling part for me is that on my 4Runner it happened equally front to rear and left to right. I have attributed that to having E range tires filled to 50 PSI on a vehicle as light as a 4runner. That was my bad, live and learn on that one
So far on this truck I have run these D load tires between 25 and 35 PSI and the fronts cupped equally left and right tire but the rears did not cup. I have been struggling with an alignment and cant for the life of me seem to find a shop that can get my steering wheel straight and stop the truck from drifting right...
