I was told I can run regular 87 octane gas in this truck. Is that what’s recommended? Dealer never said.

Yes it says can run on 87 prefer 89, didn’t know if running 91 or higher would be better.

I always ran 89 in my 03 5.7, if she had any different she ran like crap. My 17, I’ve ran 89 since I burned up the tank of cheap gas the dealer filled it up with. In my opinion it runs better, and performs better. Gotta ask yourself is it worth the extra .10 a gal. To me it is.

Basically what the manufacturer is saying in the owners manual is it will run on 87, but better on 89.
Running on 91 is overkill.

I’ve ran both 87 and 89 in mine. Don’t see a difference in anything. But I still ran 89nmostly. Till just recently when 89 here was more than diesel. I’m not paying more for gas than diesel I refuse

The 6.4 is happiest with 89 in my experience. Premium will get you no benefit in it.

My 2014 6.4L ran a lot better on 91. Got marginally better fuel mileage but not enough to pay me back in any reasonable amount of time.

Ended up running 91 all the time, especially after I got the tune package from Hemifever.

My 5.7 has run 87 since new. At times I have been on road trips and used 89 because that was at the station I stopped at I have never felt any difference.

What does octane do? It just prevents the air-fuel mixture from igniting before the spark plug does it. Firing the air-fuel mixture at the proper time gives you the maximum power your engine was designed to get. Using higher-octane gasoline than your engine is designed to utilize is only wasting your money.

I got one with mine but the salesman had to go get it from somewhere else cause it wasn’t in the truck. He said to download the Ram app. It would notify me of maintenance scheduling as well as recalls...

Manual says 89, 87 if 89 is not available.
