Good evening.
Changed out thermostat and added coolant like the threads on the forum states. Truck will idle at temp of 222 for 15 min then starts to climb. Where should I trouble shoot next? Radiator cap or water pump? When I pulled the plug to drain this is what I found. It wouldn't drain at first. Squeezed the upper hose once and it finally started to drain. I also should add that there are no leaks in the system.

You need to have your entire system flushed if your plug looks like that. Looks like an oil/coolant sludge mix.

You either have oil/trans fluid getting in to your coolant or someone added regular coolant to the HOAT that mopar uses. You can't mix coolants like that or it'll sludge up.

Update....
Did the system flush today. Held temp at 219 for 3 hrs. Once I drove the temp climbed. Figured out that the fan clutch has gone bad. Going to replace that in the am and hope that fixes the issue. If not the only other things to address would be the radiator itself, the water pump or maybe even the head gasket. I don't think the head gasket is it but you never know.

The Radiator was clogged. Good thing is everything is new on the system now.

If it sludged up I bet there's all kinds of **** in the block you can't flush out.

people told him right out of the gate it was sludged. but he wouldnt listen. even seeing sludge on the plug himself meant nothing i guess

Since at least the '14 model year, Ram use OAT coolant. You definitely don't mix OAT and HOAT coolants
