Recently purchased a 2018 express short bed. Gotta say the radio is not much to look at, but the sound that comes out is very good and very loud. Much better than any other vehicle I’ve ever owned and according to my paperwork there’s nothing special mentioned about its sound system. Is that just how they all sound? Curious

Some base sound systems sound better than others, its hit and miss depending on the speaker manufacturer a car maker uses..

Having 4 6x9s help fill the sound and the 3.5s in the dash really move the stage up. Once you hear a truck with upgraded speakers the "I think my stereo sounds good" immediately goes away.

I have a 17 Express, regular cab with the base radio. I do not like it. Plus, I don't think it has good enough bass. I want to upgrade, but either the 8.4 or aftermarket with backup camera setup will cost me over $1000 with speakers. So, I"m dealing with it right now. Other upgrades, less expensive, and more important are first.
1. hitch - done
2. steps - next
3. bedliner
4. upgraded radio with backup camera setup

Thad’s the confusing part my sound is awesome and the bass particularly is loud. Oh well I guess I shouldn’t be complaining. Would love to get rid of that horrible basic radio though. I’m with you though, the are other upgrades more important for me as well at this point.
