Anyone else with this issue? I haven't had any time to leave the truck at the dealer. The dealer said they have not had an issue come in yet. I've had many new trucks over the last 10 years, this one is not even close to cold compared to the other Ram/Ford trucks I have had.

It doesn’t blow freezer cold so if you’re wanting to have the ‘walk in cooler’ experience you’re out of luck.

I thought it was Luke warm as well when I was test driving trucks.... gas or diesel, they all blew the same. Having tested it though in 100 degree weather, it does keep the interior nice.

Hi RainDesert,

Please let us know via private message if you decide to have your dealer look into this. We would like to have this documented and have a case escalated in your behalf so a Case Specialist can work with your dealer to help find a potential solution.

I know the 1500 5th gen guys complain about ac. I think they changed refrigerants and it’s not the worlds finest. This day and age you kind of expect the ac to be able to freeze you out it’s just not that hard. But....epa keeps their hands in it so that don’t help.

After it's been running for about 30 mins it's pretty cold, but it takes a long time for it to get cold - I bought my 2019 RAM 3500 6.7L two months ago.

i just baught a 2019 with the 6.4 in it, and i only have 270 miles on it, and its been at the dealership now 7 days cause the AC only blows 59 to 60 degree air out on a 90 degree day.
My older 2500 i traded would blow in the low 40's
The dealership cant find the problem, they put a brand new 2500 off the sales yard back in the service to check it against mine, they having the same issues.
The 134 refrigerant thats in both trucks should blow in the low 40'

Are the new rams using 134 or 1234YF?

Mine has been at the dealer twice. 1 st time they agreed it is not cold. 2nd time in they never touched it. Really irritating for me as I use my truck daily for work so I am in no hurry to get it back. That said, I have noticed that in the early morning when the temp is in the low 60's, if I just set it to cold and vent w/o AC it still blows hot. I''m thinking the blend-door is not closing off the engine heat properly. This explains both situations on my truck; not very cold AC and hot air on cool mornings.

Hi Robert A Knight,

I’m very sorry to hear of the trouble you are experiencing with your truck. If it would be of interest, I would be happy to have this documented and escalate a case on your behalf so that we can connect you with a case specialist who will be able to work alongside your dealer to find a potential solution. Please follow up with us via PM to proceed in this manner.

Make sure you do your research before you buy. I was also set on buying a 19 - HD/6.4. However, with all the 5th gen issues that are popping up, I will be holding off. There is a definite HVAC issue that many owners are complaining about. So far, the dealers and Ram are vehemently, not admitting fault. Go over to the 5thgenram forum and poke around a bit. I keep seeing thread after thread, where owners are complaining about: HVAC, touchscreen locking up, dead Uconnect, water leaks, transmission clunks, doors out of alignment, etc.

There is a poll on the 5thgenram forum, that asks owners if they have had any issues, and what kind of issues. So far the "No issues at all" category is at 50%. That means the other 50% of owners are having issues. 1 out of 2 owners, are having issues with their new truck.

Seems that everyone that has a 19 complains about the A/C not being very cold.
The problem is that mfgrs changed the Freon type
They are now required by the feds to use 1234A Freon instead of the 134A which got a lot colder. Some of the 18’s are probably filled with the 1234A also.

I have a 2019 RAM 1500 Limited and I am, also, very disappointed with the air temperature I am getting out of my vents. I saw a video on YouTube where a guy put an $8 clamp from Harbor Freight on his heater hose. He saw a temperature drop of about 10 degrees with it in place. I thought that was worth a try, so I did the same thing. Wow what a difference. My temperature on the driver side used to be 51-52 degrees at best. Passenger side was 45 degrees. Now I get 43 degrees on both sides and the AC feels great. I did this just to diagnoses it. I found out Ram does not use a heater control valve any more because they claim the heater core contributes to the cooling of the engine under heavy loads or really hot days. The heat from the heater core is infiltrating the cooling system making the AC less effective. Well, I called Ram and asked them how they were going to fix this bad design. They said it is normal, live with it.

YUP, the AC on MY 19 is really poor. DOES not cool the way it should. Had checked last year, GOT THE DREADED: Within Specs

MCBROOM: The new Freon I believe is the problem, friggin EPA and Tree Huggers. The 134 systems were 100% better.....

you should link that if you can find the video. My 19 Classic is cold! I'm starting to like the looks of the 5th gen, but not until they resolves quirks

Then maybe I should hunt down an ‘18 2500 and just live with that 6.4-6-speed combo.
