I have a 5th generation, I live in Florida, and it is now August. No issues with my AC , it works great. My truck was built in December 2018, don’t know if that makes a difference. Maybe they bottled some of that Michigan winter and put it in the compressor .

I love my 5th Gen. I look forward to driving it everyday!! I have about 24,000 miles on it, no complaints. I have no issue with the AC. Recently in Hilton Head, 95 plus degrees everyday and the AC worked great.

I have a brand new 2019 Warlock (1500 classic) and noticed in the hot, humid weather in Austin where I bought it the AC struggled, particularly at idle. In Vegas where I live, with single digit humidity it works perfectly fine and is cold. This is with recirc on as well.

I'm under the impression the 19 classics are going to be ramping down production very soon/not taking any new orders for them once you can order a 2020 (my son is a salesman at a local dealer). They were being offered as a transition option for those that preferred the 4th gen style (big Horn was highest trim on classic) while FCA ramped up production on the new 5th Gens.

The 1500 "Classic" may not be going away anytime soon, and may get an update. ram is still selling a bunch of them, why ruin a good thing.

The 8sp in the classic would be a very nice upgrade..if they would also get the classic entry point near $25k it may really juice-up sales....no ram 2019 or 2020 will ever be in my drive...i am not going to be wanting new gen until they get the problems fixed...utterly stupid you spend $50k and the dam air-con needs a driveway fix to work properly....my ultimate wish would be a single cab power wagon with a shorter wheel base..only thing stopping me on the classic is if it is discontinued trade-in values will plumment...which would be great for me as i am not buying a problematic new gen....i would be surprised if the classic remains..my gut is FCA knows classic owners are going to get hosed on resell and that article kinda confirms my suspicion...seems they are trying to get ahead of the curve as there are going to be a lot of pissed off classic owners when they figure out they lost $20k or more value during 2 years of ownership.....since i seem to be on a ram bash (and i do luv there trucks) the 12" screen is another of my what the hell were you guys thinking...i will replace my ram with another ram though...more than likely be a 2018..my 01 SLT does need to go to the crusher

Check the temps coming out of your vents and you will notice a 8- 10 degree difference between the driver side and passenger side vents on the 5th gen.

I didn't really notice a problem with the 5th gen AC till weather reached over 100 degrees outside. Depending on your comfort level and where you live the AC might not be that big of an issue.

I test drove 3 classics and each was able to reach 42 degrees out of the vents within 5-7 minutes while driving in 108 degree weather. At idle the temps increased 4 or so degrees.

The 5th gen was getting 60- 63 while driving after 20 minutes and 70 at idle in the same 108 degree weather.

I drove home today in 113 degree weather and the classic got to 42 degrees no problem and increased a little at idle.

The A/C and everything else works great in my 5th gen Longhorn. This truck is a significant upgrade from my 4th gen Laramie. I wouldn’t even consider a 4th gen at half the price of my 5th gen Longhorn.
