Hey Guys,

I am looking to get a new 2019 Limited or Longhorn in the next 30 days or so ideally. I am getting opinions on both sides of the aisle on this one from friends. I am leaning more towards the 22" wheels and found a truck coming in with them to a local dealer.

Anyone else have an opinion on this in terms of if I really lose a lot of ride quality or performance by getting the 22" wheels?

I like the look and don't think they are "too much" but wondering what others have to say.

If it was me I'd go with the 20's. Of course, I have already started looking into getting 18's once I get my truck. I'm not a fan of big wheels and skinny rubber on trucks. If you only drive on pavement or smooth dirt roads you should be fine with 22's but if you are planning any kind of off-roading, you are better off having more tire and less wheel.

I usually prefer more rubber then wheel on trucks so my vote ( Not that it matters ) is for a 20” wheel.

I had 20’s on my 13 express. Then got some 22” r/t wheels. Then went to 17”. 17” was AMAZING!!!

I optioned out my Laramie, but stuck with the 18" wheels. For me, I always like to get the smallest wheels that fit around the brakes and make it all rubber from there. 35s on 18s look so much better to me than 35s on 22s. All personal preference. Just make sure that whatever you do, you do it for you, and you'll be good.

Also worth adding:

Bigger wheel, smaller tire: stiffer ride, better on-road handling

Smaller wheel, bigger tire: softer ride, better off-road capability (more rubber to wrap around rocks without popping)

I'd go 20" too little rubber on a 22 if your going to take it off pavement or load it up. More tire options as well.

20's on Limited come with Bridgestone Dueler...22" come with Goodyear.....made my decision easy...20's for me...rides better I would assume

worse gas mileage the bigger the wheel too.

A little debateable because larger tires generally have a high rolling resistance (the amount of force required to move a tire from a resting position). But in general, I think you're right. But if the overall diameter/revs per mile of the tires are equal, gas mileage should be pretty dang close either way.

Wider tires definitely worsen gas milage.

Man I love the look of the 22” wheel. My cousins Gmc Denalli has them. The truck dosent ride quite as smooth as my ram, but I don’t know if its the suspension or wheels.

Congrats on getting the new limited, beautiful truck! If I can ask what colour interior are you getting? I saw that new light tan/blue interior for Limited's and must say that is a absolutely gorgeous interior, it almost looks like a Bentley interior.

I got the black. I was tossed but I had a tan interior in my old car and it really showed the dirt. I really like the look of the black and zebra wood accents

IMG_0790.jpeg I got the 22" polished with painted inserts. I like the way they look and with air ride, the ride of the truck is great.

If it’s a 4x4 and you will eventually put larger tires go with 20’s, if it’s a 2wd I would go 22’s. The 20’s look small on the 2019’s

22's look great, but I would be worried about potholes which is something I shouldn't have to fear so much with a truck.....hence my sticking with 20" wheels. 45 or 50 series tires look great, but don't provide much "cush".

To some it might make a diff., the bigger the wheel the bigger the $$$$ for rubber to wrap them. I like the 20s I think it is a good compromise.

If you pull anything that has much weight, I wonder how much 22" xl rated tires would cost. 20" are bad enough.

I have the 20 inch tires on my 2004 Ram Laramie. I have used the B.F Goodrich All Terrain TA tires and like the ride as well being able to go just about anywhere especially in the snow.
