I am no genius, but I think you are going to need to get both some miles and some re starts. Seems the issue is that the test is reading that someone cleared codes. Hence why you need miles and re starts listed for the scan tool to read.
I wish I could remember what the number was.
Drive 20 miles pull in somewhere shut the truck off. Repeat. (Edit: it seems the readiness cycles should clear after 30 to 100 miles...something makes no sense in this story)
Or I could be completely wrong. Because the facts of the case are very confusing.
But it seems your mechanic(and you) needs to stop unhooking your battery or clearing the codes
