Hello all,
Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I have a couple of questions regarding the pic of my 8.4 screen I attached:

1. Is this also a "delamination" failure like I am reading in all of those posts?
2. Can this be repaired with a new digitizer or does it require the digitizer/LCD assembly?
3. Where can I find the model Uconnect I have (4 , 4C , UAQ , UAS, etc.)

The unit is not acting up right now but difficult to see/read in the daytime. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!

That doesn't really look like delaminating to me. Delaminating is more of a bubble. Did you or someone else use something to clean the screen?

I got the truck used and can't be sure if someone used a cleaner they shouldn't have. But don't think it's that. I agree, it looks "crazed", like something attacked the surface, but it's perfectly smooth. Initially, I tried eyeglass, alcohol wipes, to see if something would buff off, but nothing did. What did happen is some of the clear areas you see in the pic got larger with pressure and friction. That's what made me ask if there's another form of delaminating. I stopped buffing as it was slow going and I wasn't sure if I was hurting anything. I would just replace the screen if I could determine which one, exactly, I need! Many choices and all are too expensive to make the wrong choice.

It doesn't appear to be delamination but rather an extremely worn factory anti-glare protector. You polishing it shouldn't hurt, but I would consider removing it completely or covering it with another protector. The latter option is often enough to make the imperfections optically insignificant. I recommend the following screen protector. It comes with two so you can try both options if unsatisfied with going over the factory protector. Take the radio out or the HVAC bezel off to apply as it will cover all of the screen (to include areas under the bezel).

Check out this thread... Paging @SitKneelBend.

Thread '8.4 Screen Protector/Issue?' Thread '8.4 Screen Protector/Issue?' https://www.ramforum.com/threads/8-4-screen-protector-issue.182574/

Hopefully that's something that might help you out. You could reach out to the OP, @Rebob0510 of the thread. Perhaps he could provide feedback or images if it worked.
You're right. The screen in that thread looks exactly like the start of mine. I will touch base with him to see how he made out...thanks!

Just cut and paste...it looks like the forum is blocking it by changing the link. Here is the Amazon description...

UPDATE: Based on some YouTube videos I watched, I saw one where they used everything from Listerine to Isopropyl Alcohol to remove the anti-glare coating. Most used 90% iso with some buffing time, using a microfiber cloth, the coating eventually yielded and came off. I had access to some laboratory grade, 99% isopropyl (can be bought on Amazon) and gave it a try. Wow! Took 5 minutes of light buffing and it was gone! Very little effort. Compare pics below to the one above. I am quite pleased and felt I should pass it along. Thanks to all who offered suggestions and advise. I appreciate it!

Thanks for this. How do you temove the bezel?

Do you have a Jumpseat or center console?
Sorry Johnny...I missed your reply. I figured it out. The whole dash section had to come out and the unit removed. It was probably no necessary but made for a much nicer install with no trimming. Thanks to all who recommended these Matte Screen Protectors! They took a couple weeks, coming from Germany via Amazon, but I am very happy with the reults!
