Different gears could definitely have an effect (3.21's vs 3.92's). How much of a difference are we talking from your old to the new for the mpg lost?

2016, 3.92 gears, 2.8/1.5 lift, 33” oem size AT tires. I was averaging 14.5. I dropped a K&N filter a few days ago. It’s now reading 13.5 but I think I’m just punching it harder since I got it... Either that or the fuel management system is spitting out more fuel with increased air flow?? But other people say they gain 1mpg, so I guess it’s my lead foot lol.

jrod, I also dropped in the K&N filter and thought it will help increase MPG but not so sure. I will give it some time and then drop the OEM back in and check it out again. I don't have any good data to compare with yet.

I am thinking about unhooking the battery to reset the system as others had suggested and allow the computer to relearn the new air/fuel mixture. Not sure if that will work either? Some have said it increased performance after they unplugged but there is not a lot of information on the subject.

I'd like to hear from others if they have done that.

I played around with it some more and managed to get more MPG’s. I posted more about it here.

I have no clue what MPG I am getting. I assume it sucks compared to most other vehicles since it's a huge truck. Lucky for me the MPG doesn't matter, short of something stupid like 1 MPG.

2 MPG worse in 15k miles of city driving, assuming 10 & 12 MPG:
10 MPG/15k miles = 1500 gallons
12 MPG/15k miles = 1250 gallons
@ $2/gallon = $500 per year. And that's a lot of city driving in a year.

I would assume the MPG is worse on these trucks when they're brand new, and that it gets a little better as the truck breaks in. But I could be completely wrong.

I drove a 2012 Longhorn, 2015 and 2017 Limited and now 2019 Limited E-torque. The biggest thing I see is that the 2019 lie-o-meter tells the truth. Hand calculated mileage is almost identical. The first 3 trucks were driven a combined 313,000 kms and the 2019 only about 12,000 so far. The 19 is getting marginally less but 8000 kms was with between 1000-1500 lbs in the box in mostly cold and stormy conditions in western Canada. I don't do much city driving. If you don't calculate mileage you will be very disappointed with a 2019. These 4 trucks have all been better than my 2007 SLT and 2010 Laramie. (221,000 kms combined)

I highly recommend installing Fuelly on the phone. Nice being able to chart over time. I get around 19 commuting in town and 17 on the highway.
My 16 Longhorn EVIC is inflating my #'s by about 10%. Last night the EVIC said 21.8 for the tank, actually it was 19.6!

I snap a pic of every fill-up, here is last night's. I wish I could get the 700-mile range that pops up on a fresh tank!!!

My 1-ton diesel averages 14.5 mpg around town which is why I usually take the Prius that gets 45 mpg for my errands that do not require a pickup truck. If I do 50% of my trips with the Prius my "fleet" average is 30 mpg.
I can also more months between oil changes and suspension lubrication and my filters last longer.

K&N filters are not going to provide a gain over the factory filters unless you are driving on unpaved roads all the time. Important to also try to understand and appreciate that an air filter as with a fuel filter is least effective at filtering when it is new. It takes time for loading to take place and in the interim more particles get past the media.
