That's insane, i'm getting 14 on stock tires using 91 fuel. I also only have 1000 miles on it haha

I was at 14-15 until about 8k miles then it just took off! Idk what’s up lol!

I have noticed this engine is very delicate for fuel mileage, it can be good but if you are on it, it will drop fast!

The only reason I worry about fuel mileage is to ensure I can make it to the next gas station. Its about the experience and ride getting there. There are so many variables between trucks and driving style its comical when people get all triggered if the guy next to them get 0.5 mpg better.

Fill the truck, get out on the road and enjoy life. If a few mpg will really break your budget then you've stretched yourself too thin and should not have purchased a truck.

I agree, I have a hellcat and lifted wrangler, so MPG means nothing to me haha
Excellent choice of vehicles, still miss my JKU's.
I currently have my 6.4 Ram, and my Durango R/T, both built for power, not economy.

Just returned from a hunting trip last night, drove from the Kingman Arizona area to Reno towing a Kawasaki Teryx 4 seater. I averaged about 8-9mpg. My mileage isn't great even towing a light load.

With mostly city driving I get around 12mpg, highway usually in the 16mpg range. As previously noted, any wind or hills and the mileage tanks. The truck does a great job doing anything I ask of it though.

Reading through this my 2014 with the 6spd is about the same mileage as you are all reporting with the 8spd. Of course, my 6spd SUCKS in comparison in terms of overall performance but I guess I'm pleased to learn MPGs isn't an additional negative.

All this being said, I'm not a MPG micromanager at all. A lot of my numbers come from the lie-o-meter as it's often called but I have hand calculated and checked a few times and it's been pretty accurate... within a few % anyway.

My daily driving is a lot of stop/go and I get 12 on summer fuel - 10/11 with winter/ethanol blend. Highway can be as high as 20 but drops quickly with speed and hills. Towing the 11K 5th wheel I can see 10 on flat land with no wind but usually closer to 8/9ish. Hills of course cut is down even further.

Correct. My 2018 with 6.4 and 3.73 gears averaged around 12 in town. My 2019 with 8 speed and 4.10 gears also averages around 12 in town. But Holy cow, there's no comparison between the 2 trucks, I am in love with the 8 speed!

I wonder if a dyno would also show a change in parasitic loss between the 6 sp vs the 8 sp?

Good question. The 6 speed just sucked behind the Hemi.

don’t forget the stock transmission tune on the older 6.4 w the 6 speed sucks. Custom tune the transmission makes it way better to deal with. It’s still no 8 speed but drivability is definitely improved. Maybe a set of 4.88 would close the gap better but I don’t have gears yet
