I put a small deposit down on a 2022 1500 Laramie and it is currently on a train. Just saw on the same dealer's website they now have a 2021 (no miles) for about 6k cheaper.

2022
Level A Equipment Pkg
12in screen
9.1 Speakers
Moon Roof
22 gal gas tank
Chrome Appearance Group

2021
Level B Equipment Pkg
8.4in screen
19.1 speakers
33 gal gas tank
Bedliner, Rear Deploy Step, Rubber Mats

I am attracted to the larger gas tank, improved speakers, and bedliner of the 2021. However, I was really looking forward to the moon roof and think the chrome accents look much better. Does anyone have thoughts on the 9.1 speakers and 12 in screen?

Thanks!

I have a 21 with the alpine 9 speaker and 12" screen. I'm happy with both.

You can't add a sun roof later on, and switching to chrome is probably costly though doable. A number of guys on the other hand, have upgraded their tanks from 22/26 to 33, you can easily add a spray in bedliner, and as for the audio, who cares, they all work.

Third option (probably best if you're not in a hurry) is to find one that matches your preferences exactly.

Drive the 21 and see how you like it. If it's only the moonroof, you may find the electric rear window will do a fine job of ventilation. I have the moonroof and seldom use it. I generally use the rear sliding window for ventilation.

I also have the 12 in/19 speaker system but again when you drive the 21 you'll know if you like the 8.4. I also paid for the Sport group to get rid of the chrome but that's just me.

The 22 will have the newer uconnect 5 vs 4 on the 21.

Personally $6k is a lot of money to essentially downgrade to the lesser equipment and smaller tank.

12” screen is awesome. I’ll never go back. And eTorque is a win if you did order it. Ram probably has the best setup out there for that. And the note above regarding a smaller tank if you have eTorque is wrong. I had a 2019 1500 with eTorque and the larger tank. (I’m in a 2500 now)

ive had both the alpine and the harken and little difference, even with all the extra speakers. The alpine is still great.

if you are in no rush, wait for exactly what you want.

I have had a moon roof in all my trucks till the one I have now. thought I would not be happy but after a while dont miss it. I like having the 33 gal tank. I occasionally tow our travel trailer and at 8.5-10 mpg so fuel stops farther apart with larger tank. nice to see over 600 miles range on the screen when not towing and the 8.4 media screen is plenty fine for me. it's not for watching videos after all and the maps and other info look plenty good on it. save 6000$ but your truck will be a whole model year older..will affect resale value a little but you will owe less money.

21 over the 22, IMHO.

Yeah, the pricing is merely a function of the Model Year, is all. It's not really relevant to what you want - the resale value will be the same difference from the model year at the end of the day.

More important to get what you want - especially during this time of unprecedented scarcity. By happy,

I have the 21. The stereo is adaquate to destroy your hearing, the bigger fuel tank == at least 100 more miles down the road. I have the moon roof but seldomly use it. If you intend to hold it long-term, go for the one you're happier with.

Agreed, but since this thread was started back in March, I'd guess the OP has made a decision by now.
