I kind of sort of have a thread that documents this but it was just an order thread. I like to do a thread just to keep track of what I've done with pics along the way. My old Silverado thread was just found the the guy that purchased it a few years ago. How awesome for him so maybe if this gets sold someday the new owner might find it and find it useful. Here are a few pictures of when it was on the lot just off the transport truck.

It took me quite some time to decide on trim level and color. Its hard to pick a color if you aren't in a big city so you can drive around and check them out in person. I was very close to pulling the trigger on Olive Green Metallic. In some pictures it looked great. In others it looks gold which I wasn't overly impressed with. I didn't particularly like this newer generation in black. I can't exactly explain why. I loved the 4th generation in black. I chose white because it was the safest option honestly and it's very easy to take care of. I was sick of twig scratches etc.

As far as what level to choose, I was dead set on a level 2 with buckets until I started to research more. I wanted it pretty optioned out since I plan to keep this one for quite a while but when I started talking with the dealer and pricing out options with the level 2 I was within 1000 dollars of just getting a level 3. The level three was totally worth it for the headlights and the dash and door cards. They are in my opinion way nicer looking than the level 1 and two. I do however wish I had the vertical Power Wagon stitched on my seats. I guess I'd say if you want buckets and the 12 inch screen just do the three. The other thing I wasn't quite so sure on was the vertical grill. After seeing it in person I do like it better.

As for modifications, I had several things in mind. I took all my Thuren goodies taken off my my 18 and I will be putting them on this truck in time. Probably when the weather dries up a bit. It'll get the 1/2" over stock Thuren front coils, their track bar, and the Fox front reservoirs and rear fox 2.0's I spoke with Andrew at Thuren and as of right now my truck has 5/8" of rake. Substancially less than my 18. He said my springs will probably raise the front 1/4" to 1/2" which will be perfect. If they don't raise the front and lower it I'm not quite sure what I'll do. So far I've done an Access original tonneau, OEM mud flaps, and the CJC intercooler guard. I'm tempted to order the Carli reservoir mounts but I'm unsure of the durability in salty conditions so if anyone has any opinions or experiences with that I'm all ears.

Note......... with regards to the missing top screw on the mud flap......that will go through metal which I need to drill. I opted not to as it secured fine by the rest of the bolts. I'd rather not drill a hole in my new truck.

Nice pickup for sure!

I agree with you on the grill. I didnt like it at first, but its growing on me now.

Whats up with the alignment of the front fender and door…

yeah it's the one flaw I noticed. Well one of two. The fender actually seems aligned well based on the gaps with the hood. If anything both doors are slightly low and the decal is a tad high and I think they did the two tone slightly high. Combination of all three.

As far as the wheels and tires are concerned I also spent a ton of time researching that. I typically like to go with a mud terrain but I was getting sick of the noise so I decided on a Toyo R/T in a 35 12.5 18 and went with the Method 305NV with an 18 offset and changed out the bolts to black. I like the wheels but I'm trying to get used to them. They are pretty flat with not along of contour or anything. There's also a negative to them. Water likes to sit in the bottom because of the faux beadlock. Not a big deal but I thought it worth mentioning. I might actually run my 17 inch Fuel Blitz DDT's in the summer with my Cooper STT pros and white letters. I don't care for the 1 offset but I don't drive it a lot in the summer and they look pretty sweet on there. On a side note when the dealer was installing one of the wheels they damaged it. Not much but it's there on the inside of the dish where it bolts up. They are buying me another wheel and I'm getting another tire to mount on it so I'll have a spare 35". I guess it worked out for the better.

Now as far as flaws are concerned there are a couple. As olyelr noticed there seems to be a bit of an alignment issue with the doors/fender/decal placement. I'm not sure if I'm going to try and fix it or not. I might just trim the top of the stripe to make it even and call it a day. I'll see. A couple other things I've noticed is that my third brake light was scratched quite a lot on top and the cargo camera didn't work all together. I got the fix from firewall or at least the link to the fix on HDRAMS. Page 233.

Here it is:

It also has a weird downshifting issue when coming out of 4th gear going to a stop. Seems as if I baby it going into the stop it won't do it or if I'm pretty hot into a stop it won't. It has a pretty decent downshift clunk. Think of if something is rolling around in your bed and hits the front bed wall. Feels like that. I'm going to take it day by day for a while and see if it improves. Seems there are others but as of now there's no fix. Could just be the transmission learning.

Finally there's the issue of my seat looking like garbage after 350 miles. I do kind of have a fat wallet so maybe that's it. Also it's been cold so maybe when I get some heat in the cab it'll help.

As far as other plans, I just ordered the Borla S-Type exhaust and I will plan on painting my tow hooks red and might get a factor 55 hook. I do like the way the Borla tucks up nicely under the rear bumper. May do some other lights or something as far as KC or something to that effect but that'll come in time. Any other suggestions are more than welcome. I might do an S and B as well. I'm also debating on whether or not to remove the b pillar black vinyl trim. I had a 16 Silverado that was that way and I really liked it but the Power Wagon has so much back I'm not sure if it'll look great or not.

82215928ab front
82215929ab rear

You'll need a pop rivet gun that does 1/4" pop rivets. They utilize two screws from the fender flares and the rest except for the top ones on the front flaps are plastic 1/4 inch pop rivets. Menards has a gun. I'm sure other places do too but I was limited to Menards in my small town.

I know that is what the instructions say but when I drilled mine all I went through was plastic. I am wondering if the install instruction regarding drilling metal and using rust inhibitor is for trucks without flares. I know the instructions say for hd trucks with flares but I am pretty sure my top one drilled thru plastic just like the bottom one. it has been a while since i installed them so maybe my CRS is kicking in but seems like I would remember drilling thru sheet metal as I hate doing that too.

Good to know! I’ll take a peak. Usually those flare are held on with those clips inserted around a hole through sheet metal and a screw. Maybe that top hole is in a place where there’s a preexisting Hole or a cutout.

Congratulations on a awesome truck
Thank you. Still getting used to it. It just feels different than the old one. Feels like The other one had more low end torque. It’s a different transmission after all so I’m sure it’s me just getting used to it. I’d expect this 8 speed to be lower on the bottom end.

Hey THK... It appears 1 of the photos are in International Falls in Menards parking lot... am I right? I have a 2020 Black PW, and have a cabin on Rainy Lake. Just looked familiar.

Haha. You are correct. I have yet to see yer truck rolling around. There are two other wagons in the neighborhood besides ours then. A gray 18 and a delmonico red 18. Or 17. Not sure on the years.

Also apparently the Toyos are ten lbs heavier than my Coopers. That probably explains a bit of the sluggishness

that would drive me nuts. No way it should be so misaligned. Should be an easy fix for the dealer's body shop. I would not try and do it myself incase there really is an issue with the hinges etc. and then they try and blame it on the owner.

Yea, with the 8 speed it should feel way more peppy off the line seeing how the trans is geared so much lower. The crawl ratio is leaps and bounds better than the pre ‘19s due to the first gear in the 8 speed.

Might have to hammer it. I’ve been babying it a bit.
