I know it's not apples to apples, but trying to choose between a 2022 Rebel with 5.7 etorque and air suspension, vs a 2022 2500 laramie with 6.4. I don't tow much, but wouldn't mine having the higher capacity in case. The truck woukd also be my daily driver about 75% of the time. I'm also not sure i want an etorque. Both are around the same price.
Has anyone driven both and can provide some input? Thanks

I have a ‘16 power wagon (2500 with 6.4) and a ‘17 half ton big horn 4x4 with the 5.7.

Bought them both new.

Both have around 120k miles. Ive put every mile on both of them, so definitely have some seat time/comparisons with the two.

Mine are older models to what you are looking at, so not apples to apples, but dang close. The 2500 you are looking at has the 8 speed trans (mine has the 6), which is a big upgrade imo.

The half ton is way better for dd. Period. Im usually up around 17-19mpg with the half ton, the power wagon has never averaged over 13.4, and its usually much less than that. The half ton is way peppier feeling…not sure if its actually faster (never raced the two side by side lol) but it definitely feels quicker and more nimble. Half ton definitely rides better, and thats comparing to a power wagon which typically rides better than a normal 2500. Havnt towed much of anything with the half ton, but the 2500 would definitely be better for that if you are towing stuff that is pushing the payload limits.

I love both of the trucks. But for normal daily driving and comfort…half ton all the way.

I've owned multiple half tons and 3/4 tons, currently in a 2021 Power Wagon. I would suggest *not* getting a 3/4 ton unless you need a 3/4 ton. Olyelr above lays it out pretty well, but let me add a few more small pain points:

Urban parking sucks. Size and turning radius make everything just a little harder and less convenient.

It's more expensive when things wear out. Everything is bigger and heavier, so tires, ball joints, shocks, all more money. If you plan to keep it long term, just something to consider as it's not a huge difference but is a difference.

I would suggest you've set up a false dichotomy, though, as there is a third option: Neither of those. If you're not going to use Rebel features and like the Laramie interior, why not look for a non-etorque Laramie 1500? Maybe a bit older to get that, I understand.

Unless you really need an HD truck get the 1500. It's going to be more comfortable, easyier to manuver, better mpg, and probably cheaper?.
