RamDiver makes a solid point. I've been bitten by the no loaner vehicle issue twice....

Once with our local FCA dealer when our charger went into the shop for a radio replacement.... The car had 5k miles on it and blue screened. They told me they didn't have any loaners available and to get one and send them the invoice. When we went to reserve the rental, we sent the rental info to the service manager and he approved it in writing. After we brought the rental invoice to him, he balked and said he wasn't paying it. We had to go all the way to the owner of the dealership to get it paid.

Second time was with our Expedition. FORD corporate approved a rental in writing since the dealer told us and Ford they had no loaners available. We ended up in a rental for 6 months. Ford paid half and made us eat the remaining half ($1,500).

Get it in writing as a part of the agreement.
@RamDiver

I will check and see if the Mopar Extended Warranty has an option for 'loaner' vehicle

As i live 8 hours away from the Dealership where i am buying

The pertinent point to highlight re a loaner is that the loaner is available at any FCA dealer.
Beware of deals that are specific to one dealer only.

My original selling dealer included a bunch of free oil changes, they're of limited use to me because of the location but even less valuable after the dealership closed for good.

Fortunately, the loaner deal I received is written into the original sales contract and is transferrable anywhere in the country.

On another note, guess what I found?

I'm looking for the VIN digits definitions to determine engine type, still looking but,
I did find a '22 E-Torque VIN for you to compare. You will see that it says E-Torque;
5.7L V8 HEMI MDS VVT ETORQUE ENGINE

maybe. Lemme look at my sons old one and mine: OK see below:

if nothing else U get a lot of info on yer truck.

Also, WHEREVER U buying vehicle from, go to their Website and Download the Moroney sheet (ie., window sticker) ... It will list what engine and stuff on the sticker.

ADDED: Look for this line listed in Optional Equipment on Build Sheet: If you find this line, that will tell you if it has E Torque.

View attachment 558599

If you find the line below, VEHICLE does not have E Torque.

Thank you Turkeybird56,

The Window Sticker says this:
Speed Automatic 8HP75 Transmission
5.7L V8 HEMI® MDS VVT Engine $2,795

I'm not sure if this varies from state, or if Canada is different than the US. But i know that dealerships in my area decide whether or not they will provide loaner vehicles, not Ram or Stellantis. There will be nothing in the extended warranty about a loaner vehicle. If anything, it might include language about a rental vehicle.

Loaners (at least around here) are either something the dealer offers as an "incentive" to buy from them, or something negotiated during the sale. Rentals are typically notated (with a max per day/length of time stipulation) in the warranty.

In general, most US warranties leave Canadastan miles behind, AFAIK.

We must also have differences when it comes to loaners. I know what you are saying about the dealer-specific policies. I've had loaners at specific Toyota and Nissan dealers without any grief but they both sold me used trucks.

With the Warlock, I negotiated a loaner when buying my truck but that dealership is long gone.
I asked about a loaner last Fall while having warranty service completed at the new-to-me dealership and the SA said he looked up my original sales agreement.

He said the sales agreement indicated I paid to have loaners and asked what would I like to drive.
I thought I was dreaming. LOL

It might be an Ontario-wide Stellantis dealership policy, at least that's one good thing about living in Ontario these days.

Too bad they don't have a national program in both countries. I'll try to get clarification during my next service visit, next Spring.

David, if you have no luck with a loaner being available, where you need it, you could always explore the insurance route.

My former insurance company only provided a loaner if I was involved in a claimed accident but the new company covers any loss of use including breakdowns.

Now my new insurance company is a small Ontario company, maybe, the big insurance companies don't have the feature available.

The local Ram dealership has three loaners. They're pretty much always in use so we need to find our own transportation to and from the dealership. They offer to pick up and drop off but only for local residents. Since we live in the next town over it's not an option for us. There was no negotiating a loaner into the deal when we bought the truck.

My local Chevy dealership does offer loaners. The service department owns several older cars that are dedicated for that. I've also had sales reps offer loaners that were not part of the service department fleet. Generally it's one of the used cars from the lot. We bought our current F150 used from them and have taken advantage of their loaners a couple of times. They also offer rides for locals.

The local Ford dealership does not offer loaners at all. Like the Chevy and Ram dealerships they offer rides to local peeps.

Our local Ford dealer doesn't either. The Lincoln dealer who worked on our Expedition for 6 mos only has 3 and like you mentioned, they're always out. So.... after about month 5 of having to pay for a rental and pitching a fit because Ford shafted us, the dealership owner stuck us in a used Navigator from the used car lot.

We didn't even buy this Expedition from him (but have bought a few others), but since the Ford dealer couldn't even look at our car for 6 months he took it in to do the warranty work.

FYI - the Dealers KNOW that Buyers are looking for non-etorque RAM 1500s and they have RAISED the prices on these vehicles in the past week by as much as $5000

There are only a few left at a great deal.

In your experience, can you give pros and cons of a 3.21 rear vs 3.92

I have never owned anything with a 3.92 so I can't draw any comparisons.
I can only read, same as you, and make up my mind based on that info.

Also, my towing in the past many decades is almost non-existent.

If you're not towing or planning on mounting enormous tires, I don't think it's of much concern. I would lean towards a 3.21 for fuel economy if the above items are not of interest.

Others may feel differently.

My Tundra had a 4.30 rear and was rated at 13-17mpg

Would the RAM Hemi with a 3.92 get better mpg's ???

Here's my thoughts.
I was contemplating moving up from a Tacoma to a Tundra. When I found out that to replace the starter motor it would involve disconnecting coolant hoses I said those ******** engineers and changed my thinking. I got a 2014 RAM 1500 quad. Love it.
Also, as in past Toyota still haven't learnt anything, from the frame recall debacle and now all the new Tundra's are getting new engines and they did away with the V8. No Toyota for me.
