Just got back from the dealership and definitely has several bad lifters with only 15000 miles. Unreal, going to take a week for repairs
Tell them you want to see the lifters before they button it all up.If any show any signs of scuffing on the roller, demand they put a new cam in it to,and replace all the lifters.Good chance they'll try to screw you over, and only replace the bad lifters, and not do the cam at the same time, basically a band-aid fix,and hope it'll make it past the warrenty period, and then you'll be on the hook to fix it.

I know it won't happen but you should get a "whole new engine", It's a new truck! and shouldn't have a rebuilt anything!

Could be collapsed lifters and not a failed cam. Given the circumstances. Any metal shavings in the engine?

So the truck has been at the dealership for going on 2 weeks for lifter problems. Just wanted to know how long should this job take? Just seems like it should have been completed by now. I was told the week before I dropped it off that they would have all the parts in to complete the work. Guess i should be thankful that i have a loaner

Update on truck. Finally got my truck back. Had to replace all lifters, rockers, intake and exhaust valves due to unusual wear. Was told this is not uncommon in the Hemi 5.7. Seems like bs especially with only 15000 miles at the time of repair. All is quiet again. Guess we will see

ok now I'm really frustrated, truck has started ticking again after only 2 weeks since it was repaired. 17000 miles on truck, definitely coming from lifter/lifters only starts after oil gets hot. Beyond pissed!

That is bad, very bad. Now tell me is there a programmer or plug in
to the OBD to shutoff the 4-8 cylinder BS ? I have a 22 RAM and would like
to keep it for a while.

We have a 2018 GMC Yukon with the 5.3, and have a Range chip that works
very well to prevent this problem. Now 109K and going to run it.

Leave it alone,as there's more oil flow to the lifter bores when it's in mds mode. That's a wifes tail about mds hurting lifters.

I wonder if it could be oil pressure related? Worn pump or oil restricted/blocked passages.

OP, please keep us informed on your progress. This is very unfortunate for you, but interesting to some of us.

Gm's afm lifters are different and in a lot of people's opinions need to be tuned out. Or deleted of course. Gm's tuning also causes a lot more torque converter slippage when going in and out of 4 popper mode which heats up and grenades their weak torque converters they have. At least in their 6l80's.

My mechanical background tells me that just the changing of the lifter
from full open to collapsed is a source of issues, wear and tear on everything.
I like the KISS method. Standard lifters work well, don't mess with proven
design. Common sense prevails here.

Jut out of curiosity, does anyone think they might need to replace the whole engine? I'm in Alabama and our Lemon law stats that if you have the same problem 3 times within 24 months I believe, then it qualifies. I'm hoping that the dealership makes this right. Guess we'll see

Neighbor of mine had brand new '22 RAM 1500 from local dealer. He had numerous problems with the eTorque system (rear window leaks causing eTorque battery issues), and was without his truck often. He got pissed (as one would expect) and under our state (Rhode Island) Lemon Laws he got RAM to buy the truck back. I'm pretty sure that law is similar to what you posted.
